Which version of Nero do you have installed? Is it a trial version or did you purchase it?

I purchased it, version 6. Thanks

I don't think Nero 6 came with Nero Vision 4...... and not all versions of Nero came with DVD Video burning capabilities, though, in general, shop bought versions would have it.
OEM and web versions would need the MPEG2/DVD Plug In activated.

So, if when you open Nero StartSmart there is an option to 'Burn DVD-Video Files', you're on the right track. (You may have to click on the icon with the faces to reveal the 'faces with glasses' icon, in order to be able to choose the 'Burn DVD-Video Files' option in Nero StartSmart.
If after all that, you still can't find it, you may not have the MPEG2/DVD plug in installed.
    Let me know the outcome.

I do not have Nero Vision 4 in my Nero 6 and when I click on the 'faces with glasses' icon the only options I am presented with are "Make MP3 DVD" and "Make WMA DVD". So I am assuming that I need the MPEG2/DVD plug in installed or is there a way around this?
    Thanks

Sorry to pipe in, I have a Sumvision recorder that plays AVi's but I've recently got some AVi's that it complains about giving a "files not supported" error.

Is there any way that anyone knows that I can convert these files to a format that is supported?

It has played AVi's of mine for ages, recent ones like Heroes etc, but this last set I got didn't work....

    Hi
The files that won't play on your Sumivision - will they play ok on your pc using media player?
What i mean is, they're not faulty are they?

Hi bat, that's right they do play fine on my PC so I'm guessing it is a codec problem, in that these files I just downloaded are using something different.

I'm not entirely sure how to compare ones that I know work with ones that don't...

Yes I think that they might not have been encoded using a DIVX codec.
On my pc, to find out about the codecs that were used, I right-click on a file and look at the properties.
If it works for you, then you could try this with your files and compare the codecs used for the ones that play and the ones that don't.
