I am off to Oz for Christmas and New Year. DD is out there at the mo, so will visit her in Melbourne and then off to Perth for the festivities.
It will be my 10th visit - and guaranteed good weather at that time of year.

I went to Melbourne in their summer & it rained! Maybe Perth is more guaranteed.

I think it's more the anti-Western attitude that some locals are displaying following the interventions in Mali and the artefacts of the uprising a couple of years ago that are turning a lot away from Tunisia as a holiday destination.
I'd definitely avoid mountains though
Just take normal safeguards to keep yourself safe and all should be well0
