Is this a valid reason to claim?

Hi
my Virgin flight (VS16 7.35pm) was delayed by 24 hours. Virgin informed me that it was due to a "crew reason" on the earlier flight (possible staff shortage) in turn resulting in insufficient staff being available for our flight.
I can't see that this is an exceptional circumstance and would therefore be a valid reason to claim.
That said, I can't find anything which specifically states this would be a valid claim.
Can anyone confirm?
Many thanks

I disagree, sorry Romanby. I mean in quoting the source.
IMO, just be short, curt, but to the point with these airlines.
You need to write something along the lines of:
I have made a valid claim for compensation under Regulation EU261, to which, by reply, you have failed to prove the existence of any extraordinary circumstances to deny this claim.
I therefore put you on notice, that if you fail to settle my valid claim within 14/21 (as you wish) days, then I will be at liberty to commence a court action to recover this compensation, without giving you any further notice of doing so.
And leave it at that. But you've obviously had to come to terms with the fact that you're only going to get compensation if you go to court?
Otherwise, walk away now.0 -
My error was to be firm if you had been sent a rejection more than once, particularly where it is an obvious "Put Off".Mark2spark wrote: »I disagree, sorry Romanby. I mean in quoting the source.
