FTB Halifax Mortgage Application Process – Taking too long

I applied for a Halifax mortgage application through a Mortgage Advisor on 24th May 2013 and I still haven’t received an offer.
I was told by my MA that the valuation has been instructed last Wednesday 12th June but he informed me yesterday that Halifax will contact the developer within 24 -48 hours to agree a day when the valuation can be done and he also asked for my most recent payslip as I recently changed jobs. I supplied my Employee contract and previous payslips to the MA on 22 May so I’m not sure why he is asking for the payslips after all this time.
Can someone please let me know if this is the normal process and if Halifax normally takes this long to decide whether or not they will offer the mortgage?
I’m in the process of buying a new apartment and I should have exchanged contracts last week Wednesday 12th June so I would like to get an idea of how long more to wait until I get my offer.
Thanks

Lenders are very busy and requesting further docs is pretty standard and often occurs due to delays.
The housing market is red hot so I think you just have to accept things and not fret too much.
As to how long - it's the old piece of string thang I'm afraid. Sometimes it's all done in a week, sometimes it takes months.
Good luck0 -
Has the valuation been done yet?
Colleys the LBG in-house survey firm is currently behind in many areas due to increased demand since the launch of HTB. It takes around 30 mins to get through to Halifax on the phone too.
If you are on a fixed/temp contract, the requirements can sometimes involve an employer's reference.
24 May? Are you sure the broker actually submitted it then? Have you got a copy of the application summary? If not, ask the broker to email you one. I do it as a matter of routine for my clients so they can see what I submitted and when.I am a mortgage broker. Hey Lucky,
I'm sorry I'm not able to offer any advice, but I wanted to let you know that I'm in the same boat. I paid my valuation fee on 3rd June and my valuation has now been moved back 28th of this month. Apparently Colley's the surveyors have a lot on at the moment.
It doesn't really help to know that, but at least it's nothing personal.
Good luck with your purchase!

I posted about this earlier in another thread.
Halifax instructed Colleys for us last Tuesday and we just got the call this afternoon, the survey will be tomorrow.
We're in the North West (Manchester) if that helps.0 -
Our cases in the Midlands are pretty quick at the moment. A new case on Monday is being valued tomorrow.
Our Milton Keynes cases seem to take a bit longer than that though.I am a mortgage broker. Thanks for your responses.
The MA told me that the mortgage was submitted on 24 May and I have checked my Experian credit report and there are five searches by Halifax/Bank of Scotland on my credit file.
I’m currently in permanent employment and I did ask my MA if an Employer reference was required but he told me that Halifax informed he that the contract should suffice so I’m a little confused as to why he told me that Halifax will now require my most recent payslip to close out the employment process.
He also told me last week that my mortgage application was randomly selected by two audit teams and this normally drags the process hence why it’s taking so long but I’m not sure if he is actually telling the truth.
I was only informed that the Halifax will contact the developer within the next 24 – 48 hours to arrange a valuation yesterday.

If your case has been pulled for audit, they can (and will) request any information they fancy. Such cases, Halifax audits 1 in 12 normally see their underwriting time increase by as long as it takes to get the documentation they request turned around.I am a mortgage broker. Hi, I am in the same boat as you. Full application on the 6th of June, valuation fee paid on the same day; as both of I and my partner's credit rating are so good and with a decent deposit, they did not require any payslip or bank statement from us. Just received a phone call from my MA yesterday, apparently the surveyors are very busy the earliest appointment for my valuation is on the 4th July. This waiting is sucks!!!
I'm in East Sussex0
