Also their stores are generally not as huge as Tesco so its easier and quicker to go in and you don't find yourself walking half a mile to get to a product.

I found that a downside, they have tried to cram too much into our store. It has got worse since they turned into to a Fresh Market one too, the middle aisle is too narrow because of all the special offer bays sticking out. All you need is someone restocking the offers, or someone stopping to chat and about 3 aisles get gridlocked.

The Sainsburys and Waitrose (the only other Supermarkets) in my town are laid out much better, they still stock about the same amount but they have spread the stores out more.

We've got Morrision's, Tesco Superstore, and a Sainsbury's (a huge one) all within similar distance.

We used to only go to Morrison's since it's the closest and has perfectly acceptable own brand products. Meat I order from a butcher online, veg I get from a local box scheme.

Since I started shopping on Friday nights, I had to stop going to Morrison's as they were pretty much closing up shop when I was shopping, bread aisle mostly empty and all that.

Tried Tesco, but I've been very unhappy with the quality of their own brand products, to the point of throwing them away.

So I tried Sainsbury's and I've been very happy with the quality of their own brand.

Now, I use MySupermarket.com to input my shopping list for the week, and then print off a comparison list between Sainsbury's and Tesco. And then use it to shop at Lidl first, before finishing up at Sainsbury's

My only big gripe about Morrison's is that it's hard to find out what's on sale without visiting since they're not on MySupermarket.

Great salad bar, the best meat & bread of the big 4, second only to waitrose & m&s.
They sell galtee white pudding :-)
Eta - a nice deli counter.

I never use the self-service checkouts. Not least because I can almost always get through the staffed ones in our Morrisons about three times faster than I can either Tesco or Sainsbury's. Of course that may vary by branch but it's the case that out branch's checkouts are much better staffed that are those of their rivals.

Depending on what day you go in the manned checkouts can be pretty packed. Part of the problem is the store is too small and you notice this when its busy, be much better if it were a slightly larger store with some more self service it might be OK.

Quite a lot of the smaller Morrison stores used to be Somerfield so that may be the issue with size. We have Morrisons and think it is very good for things that have already been mentioned like bread, fish fruit and veg and meat so I suppose that's the fresh stuff. Their 'Market Street' if you like. You can only try it OP and make up your own mind. God bless. Esther x

I used to work next door to the Blackburn Morrisons and would always go in, most usually for a look only but I do like the bread, instead of it being ALWAYS stale in ASDA it is actually fresh most of the time.

I bought some bread on Saturday, and had the last four slices this morning, usually with ASDA I would have to throw it out the same day, disgusting.

We have a large Morrisson's about 5 miles away we have just started using, further than both Sains and Tesco's but worth the trip usually.

Tried their pork shoulder steaks last week, slow cooked and were gorgeous.

Also do some good offers occasionally like one one get two free!

And their cornish pasties from the bakery counter are really good, full of meat and nicely seasoned, OH a big fan of them!

I use the Blackburn Morrison's too, much nicer than Nelson. Skipton is much nicer again.
