Morrisons?

We appear to be getting a new Morrisons just down the road, in the old Blockbusters site. We already have Waitrose, Tesco, Aldi and Sainsburys within walking distance. So, my question is, what things will I be able to get better/cheaper at Morrisons than at the other stores? (this isn't a rhetorical question, I'm genuinely interested what people think!)
Thanks!

we drive 4 miles further on than our morrisons to tesco, or asda
people love their meat over tesco/asda/sainsbugs but we dont eat meat, so it has nothing to offer us
tried ours a few times when it opened
    its an odd shop:o
  • Oh well, we don't eat meat either - still I guess it might be marginally more useful than Blockbuster. Thanks!
  • When I occasionally visit Tescos I am always staggered by the astronomical pricing of their fruit and veg! Morrisons is much more reasonably priced, also much better for fish.

I love Morrisons. Really good for fresh fish but that may not be good for you. Also the bread is excellent much better than Tesco. They do every day artisan loaves which are always good. They also have 'still fresh' section for chilled foods etc which are on the last day sell by dates. I always seem to be able to pick up a quick bargain. I also look out for their offers which are quite good.
  • Ah now that does sound good - yes we eat fish, and it's really close to home so I can always pop in and bargain spot.

As others have said, Morrison's meat is much better than the rest, but as you don't eat meat then you'll just have to make do with prices that Sainsbury's and Tesco can only dream of!

My nearest Morrisons is a bit of a tip but well worth struggling around for the prices and the (sorry) quality of the <ahem> dead animals. .

I don't have a Morrison's particularly near but when I do sometimes call into one when passing on business. I'd certainly agree with the quality of fish. I think Asda and Morrison's are the best for this. It maybe that I've been lucky with my timing but their reductions in the evening seem much better than I'm used to with Asda or Sainsbury's.

I never use Tesco so can't compare.

Most of my shop comes from Aldi with a top up at Sainsbury's as this is the most economical fuelwise. That and some occasional freezer/storecupboard items from Farmfoods and Lidl.

Value salted Cashew nuts. Better than Lidl (whish are nice) and a Universe better than the horrible greasy Tesco ones

Morrisons fruit always seems to go off very quickly; even the new stores that store it on ice. That said those same stores are now offering a spectacular range of goods like samphire and fresh coconuts.

The fish selection is very good but I don't especially like their meats. Poor quality limited choice. They used to have beautiful Australian beef until they decided to get British only. The British fillet they sell doesn't compare to the old australian rib eye! They are good for organ meats/offal though.

The Morrisons range is poor in my opinion. When I have shopped there I spend more than in Waitrose! Their own brand quality is poor on a lot of things so I end up buying branded goods instead.

It sounds like the OP is getting an M Local store like Tesco Express.

Morrisons are about to build in my town; currently we have a co-op two grocers and two butchers along with other traditional shops I hope to g-d it doesn't decimate them. Even when they're a mile up the road though I will still do the 40 mile round trip to Waitrose, eve the petrol involved won't beat the savings.

Another thought actually, they do a special Made in Yorkshire range where you can get (depending on seasons) some really nice genuine farmhouse goods, Whitby kippers and amazing gourmet pies.

If you are feeling peckish - then the Morrison's Cafes are probably the best!
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard
