It vastly depends on the cost of the TV to be honest.
For a 50" TV at £900, I would expect it to last at least 2-3 years
My TV was a 42" £800 Tosh unit from Currys, 1.5 years old at the time I reported that the facia had come away. I went direct to Toshiba (have you tried going direct to the manuf??) and was assertive and to the point.
The older the item gets, the harder it is to do anything about it. Also with it being an online store, you loose the ability to "go in and make a fuss".
Do a search on the internet for your model TV, see if this is a common fault which will really back up your claim.
Unless you are willing to really fight it though, which could end up costing money on an engineers report then I dare say you may end up getting nowhere
If you bought on credit card, you have an extra layer of protection there and is another avenue you could look at going down.0 -
Are Pixmania actually a UK company or are they French with UK web sites .

You may find that the TV probably hasn't even got an earth connection in any case as they are normally double insulated. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Sales of good act allows a person who purchases an item *UP TO* 6 years to claim a manuf defect...
However, after 6 months the onus is on the buyer to prove the fault was inherent (i.e. there at manufacture and not just down to wear and tear or misuse)
Less than 6 months old and it is assumed that the fault was present during manufacture and the onus is on the retailer to prove otherwise.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0
