eBay - Something in the water?!

Is it just me or is anyone else getting INR emails/cases in under a week from purchase?
I'm used to the odd message but so far (bearing in mind it's Tuesday!) I've had 5 people contact me that bought from Tuesday onwards last week. One of these people told me that we were ridiculous and should be dispatching a replacement today rather than asking them to wait to the end of the week as they had purchased on the 11th and sent by 2nd class post as 2nd class only takes 2 days to arrive.
I just don't get it! I know that eBay have made it harder with their stupid time frames but even so.
Ohhh that and the buyers who buy at 4pm and say the 'need' it 2 days later i.e, bought this aft and need it for Thursday.
eBay is really doing my nut it at the moment especially since we don't have the same amount of issues on Amazon even though we have 5 times more sales on their - yet again the INR rate with eBay compared to Amazon is stupid.

All my sales are set to second class, it's called "managing customer expectations" and when they email saying, will that get it to my by tomorrow? and the next day is Sunday, I say "no - buzz off". Easy Life.

It must be something in the water or the woefully stupid are the majority of buyers now. I never question where something coming by second-class post is until after about a fortnight. I'm obviously too passive/patient0

The thing is that all of my listings are set to 2nd class albeit with a 1 day dispatch but people are just getting beyond a joke.
I really do give up after receiving the below. I didn't think I'd ever really mean this but I am looking forward to the lull over the summer holidays.
I need this item for Friday 21st June. Please send replacements if you cannot upgrade the delivery method. I will happily return the originals.
Best thing is they only purchased last night and the order was dispatched to them today so I have no idea what on earth they are on about - oh actually they have just replied to say that they are aware that we sent their item today but as they need it for Friday and they are aware it's been sent by 2nd class so might not arrive so they expect us to send another pack by an expedited delivery method at our cost so that they def get it in time. I wouldn't mind but the item is only £1.20!0 -
A polite message back explaining that you could have sent it first class had they made arrangements beforehand should suffice, and that you posted it via the method specified on your listing.
If anything comes of it, contact email and direct them to the unreasonable nature of the request.0 -
Ebay has started displaying "fast and free" on my second class post listings, which might explain it? Sets unrealistic expectations putting that on second class listings, but that's ebay for you!0

If you put i day dispatch your asking for trouble.
I put 3 days , but send next day - and all my buyers are over the moon that it arrives earlier than expected.0 -
With eBay's new TRS rules 1 day dispatch is, unfortunately, what it needs to be set at and 1 day dispatch has been on our listings for around 6 months so it's not that by itself that is the issue and we dispatch same day up to around 3pm which is more than expected but people seem to expect that things really will arrive within 2 days which the RM are doing in around 75% of orders
I understand that it may not be worth it to some but our average eBay fees are around £650 a month after our TRS discount of 15% is removed and as we are VAT registered the £650 is pre VAT so it is quite a large saving a month - well I think over £100 a month is but may be it won't be long term but being at the top of the rankings is a must in my sector.0 -
I think you have hit the nail on the head with that "fast and free" logo. No doubt customers in a hurry will see that and still only pay the cheapest payment \ postage option. Glad I am staying well away from it.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. I've pretty much given up on ebay - only ebay, paypal, and the Post Office make money out of sales.
Unrealistic delivery expectations and things going missing mean that it's hardly worth the effort to sell things.0 -

I would not agree that only ebay, paypal, and the Post Office make money out of sales, there are still plenty of us able to make money. The trick is to attempt to move with the changes, adapt wherever possible rather than stick with what you were doing 10 years ago and wondering why it doesn't work anymore.
The OP is a big seller and I'm sure she wouldn't be doing it if she didn't make money!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
