Road Tax advise needed please?

So I bought my first car on the 14th of May.
Road tax is up on the 30th of this month, I knew that anyway so that's fine with me. I only got my registration documents through on Friday for the car, but I haven't had any reminder through about my road tax yet. Is it possible it got sent out to the old owner before they processed me being the new owner?
I was going to renew it online, can I still do that without the reminder? Or will I need to go to the post office and explain?

As long as you have the V5c you can do it online without the reminder0 -

And 76 years later, almost everyone still refers to it as Road Tax. People can be so awkward at times.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
And we still talk about an MoT test, despite the Ministry of Transport having been abolished under that name a very long time ago ...0
