Flybe refund

my father paid £160 for a flight with flybe for my grandfather to visit on the 29 th of this month, unfortunately we received a phonecall on Monday to say my grandfather had passed away, I rang flybe to explain the situation and ask for a refund because we now have to pay for a funeral, they told me all they can give me is a voucher valid for 9 months to be used by close family only!!! I asked to speak to a manager and was told that one would ring me back shortly, that was at 1100am yesterday, can anyone please help with advice??

Thank you

He may be able to claim back the tax. Unless he had a fully refundable ticket they do not have to do anything further.
Did your father have travel insurance that he can claim from?
    • Can I get a refund as I am unable to travel because of an illness or bereavement?

Please contact our UK Customer Call Centre for advice if you are unable to travel due to illness or a bereavement. We would also advise you to check that your travel insurance covers these eventualities.
Can I get a refund if I cancel my flight?

All Flybe tickets are instant purchase, non-refundable tickets.

Why do you want to speak to a manager? Presumably the ticket your father bought was non-refundable. If so, travel insurance is the way to go.

It would be perfectly legal for them to simply say 'no refunds' and hang up on you. Compared to other airlines, their offer is more than reasonable
