O2 Not Budging, Time To Leave :(

Well it looks like my 5 year contract with O2 has counted for zilch and I will be looking for another provider.

Here's the story: I am currently on 500 anytime minutes with 100 texts for £25/month.

I called yesterday about the upgrades and spoke to 3 different people at different times.

Person #1 - offered 750 minutes + 100 texts for £28/month but with the N95 for £250. Didn't seem to understand I wanted to pay a lower monthly fee than £25.

Person #2 - offered 200 mins and texts for the same price?! No n95

Person #3 - offered me my current deal for £35 as they weren't doing discounted tarrifs or providing the N95.

Any ideas anyone? Really don't want to move but these deals are shocking, and I'm usually good at haggling... however, they really don't seem to give a crap at the moment.

Any other networks/deals people recommend? Also want the N95 cheap as possible!

Nothing remotely worthwhile offered to me either, seems like they are prepared to lose a few customers.

Good deal that except the only phones offered with 18 month @ £17.50 are the LG orange and pink !!!!, the k800i I'd want is only 6 months half price making it £210 more expensive

have a look of the mobilephonesdirect.co.uk deal for the nokia n95 for vodafone, 12 month contract on £35 a month and 500 mins and 250 texts. so it would be worth while for the extra tenner a month you would normally pay.

I had the same problem as you but only with orange as they werent prepared to let me have an n95 for less than £200 at retentions for their handset...

As with you i never had any problems with my network but when there is a much better deal available it means its time to shift.

Contract deals are always better for a new customer than existing customers. i will probably end back up with orange next year!!!

It may or may not help, but I have just renewed with them.

I used to pay £30 for 200 mins and 500 texts.

I did the same as you, rand and spoke to many a disinterested person. At that point I asked to speak to a supervisor and was onhold for about 10 mins before we started again. I explained I didnt want to leave, blah blah blah

He told me no deals on any tariffs, but then I put it to him that if he gave me a few quid discount on the offered tariff and a few more minutes then I'd be happy to stay.

He offered me, any phone, 18 month contract, 600 mins and 1000 texts for £35 per month

I didn't want that much stuff so we negotiated to:

any phone, 12 month contract, 500 mins, 500 texts

I am very happy with that.

IMO, just ask to speak to a supervisor and haggle hard;)

i was with o2, 200 mins and 500 texts for £15 a month. I thought about upgrading to nokia n95, but knew it wouldn't be cheap. so i decided on either sony k800i or k810i. i did ring up and speak to lots of different people all offering me different packages. but have been unable to find the contract for me. so am moving to vodafone. 200 mins, 500 texts, plus stop the clock for £30 a month. BUT as long as I can sell nokia n95 which i'm getting, and get £82 quidco cashback and i buy my bf's sony k810i for £180. it will work at around £24 a month on an 18 month contract. PLUS i will get free bluetooth headset and cradle. YAY!

on the other hand tho, my bf who is with o2 and has been for 7 years like me, although he is with o2 shop, and i am with o2 online. he upgraded about 2 months ago and got a free samsung d900 which he sold on ebay. they have called him up and offered him more minutes and a free sony k810i!!

what's that all about? what makes him such a good customer? i think it's coz he's o2 shop.

carphone warehouse rang me other week as its almost time for new contract. They said I would have to go on a £25 a month or more new contract to get a phone upgrade. The package I have now is beign scrapped, but theycould offer me something for £12.50 a month, but no new Phone.
I decided that if i was gonna get a new phone, on a over £25contract, im better off buying online for the extra cashback. you would think you would get some sort of loyalty deal for your custom.

Im currently trying to find a good deal for K800i.Dialphone have it for £15 a month,300mins, 200txts.
Quidco says £60cashback via them too.

That deal on mobilephonesdirect is just the ticket, if you ask me. I'll call Voda tom and try and blag it. It's worked for the last 9 years so fingers crossed. Well, anyway, I won't be going anywhere, will I? I am w/ them... doh. Anyway, my tarriff at the mo is £25, I think, which is the lowest with 75 anytime and 100 text (half price) + stop the clock (amazing feature). The good thing about having my account online is that I can actually manage it without annoying customer service advisers telling me I can't do this that or the other. TIP: If you've tried to get Stop the clock (via telephone) and the adviser was like "it's not available on your tarif cos it's an old one and blah", be polite and hang up. Log in onto your online account and add it manually. VOILA! Anyway, thanks for your help.

The best deal I can see is the Panther £45 Extra Landline Mins at E2Save.com
    On Orange

    Phone is FREE
    Cost per month £45.00
8 Months ½ Price + Sat Nav Bundle
    Saving of £180.00
900 anytime / Xnetwork minutes + Unlimited Landline Minutes
    300 Texts
Effective cost per month is £35.00

It's involves a Cashback deal so you must be organised!

I think you'll have a job getting it at £25 per month

Thats's not a bad deal at all actually.. might contact vodafone directly and see if they can offer that deal with maybe a little more thrown in... 600/700 mins + those amount of texts for £35/month would be great!

Will call o2 a final time but I don't think they will match it....

Anyway, another question.. regarding moving mobile networks... am I right in thinking that this is the process?

    - Request PAC from current mobile network and wait till it is received
    - Order new deal with different network and give them the PAC code
    - Cancel contract with current mobile provider

Is there anyway to transfer without my current number going offline at any point? Thanks for the advice guys.
