    I would recommend Krakow. Its an amazing city so beautiful and full of things to see and do.

    If you stay near the centre then most things are within walking distance. Some places like Wieliczka salt mine (truly stunning) can be reached on the bus cheaply and easily.

    There are loads of lovely restaurants and bars to have a meal in during the evening and there always seems to be something happening in the square.

    Inverness, not a long Easyjet flight from Bristol and usually spectacular views of the
    rain clouds (and that's after you've landed in Inverness).

    Inverness does have a Wetherspoons and a (newish) Poundland unlike Paris, so a top location.

    Cheap hotels, I think there's a Travelodge or even two, less beggars than Barcelona (just), because of Hyperthermia.

    Don't forget your phrasebook and mozzie net.

    There's lots to do;

    Train spotting, http://www.plocktonstation.co.uk/index.asp?pageid=156425
    Standing on Riverbanks, http://www.invernessanglingclub.co.uk/
    Making friends, http://swingers.theadulthub.com/map/uk/invernessshire/inverness.htmlurl]

    Why go anywhere else?

    It is also near Britains highest mountain, Ben Nevis.
    Many Scots would like to throw you off the top, Bob. ;)

    But can a Scot find an error in my post or is it all accurate? :p
