Sim Only for iPhone?

Hi, I am currently on a deal with Orange for a sim only 1 month contract for iPhone. But I have noticed that there are cheaper deals just for sim only.

Unlike blackberry devices, I believe an iPhone will take a standard sim such as the ones in the cheaper deals but the sim will be the wrong size. I have a clipping tool to make it a micro sim but does anyone know if these cheaper sims definitely work on iPhones?:money:

Most payg provider do micro sims, which is what the older iphones take.

E.g. giffgaff's standard sims include a micro sim popout, and for iphone 5 users you can order nano sims instead.

The sims are electrically the same, just in a different package size, so as long as your cutting tool isn't too rubbish you'll be fine even if your chosen network only does standard sized sims.

I believe iphones are like other phones, just overpriced. They will work on cheap networks if they are unlocked

Just to clarify, iPhones use all three current SIM card sizes:
    • 2FF mini-SIM - iPhone 3GS and earlier
    • 3FF micro-SIM - iPhone 4 and 4S
    • 4FF nano-SIM - iPhone 5 (and later)

Great, thanks very much for your help :) I think I am going to go for a cheaper sim as my current one is £20 per month for an iPhone sim. I would do better to just get a cheaper standard sim. My cutting tool does work, I used it for a friend and it worked a treat!

And to add, I have converted from mini sim to both of the other 2 and used them in a 4S and a 5 without problem.

I only have a cutter to microsim, I had my first nano sim cut down by a phone shop, and then used a template and Swiss Army knife scissors to do the rest (I cut up free SIM cards from all the networks to check for compatibility).

I use a 3UK nano Sim, £6.90pm with 12 month minimum term, and £3.40pm rebate from Quidco. Paying £3.50 each month for 200 minutes, 5000 texts and 500Mb suits me fine!
