Problem with Netgear Router

I have looked though some of the treads but couldn't find something to deal with my situation.
I had my laptop connected to a Wireless LAN via Netgear Router. I altered the security of the router to use WPA-PSK. I just got a new laptop which saw the wireless connection staright away and allowed me to enter the password and connected me straight away.
However on my orgininal laptop in the 'Connect to a network' window on my wireless connection is says "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network'
I have had a look around my laptop but I cant see any setting that I can change. Can anyone point me in the right direction to rectify my problem so I can again get access ?

The problem was in security setting now at WPA-Personal TKIP the little computer still isnt on the bottom bar
It tries to connect but "Windows cannot connect to 'mylan'
When I tried to connect it didnt ask me for the password !"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -

what screen do you get when you go into control panel, networks, wireless, view wireless connections, change advanced settings, wireless networks?
is the use windows to manage my wireless network settings ticked? If so,
mylan (assuming that is your ssid??, the default is netgear) properties
network authentication should be wpa-psk
data encryption tkip
paste your key in the boxEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
