Buying a house with a flying freehold

I don't think it will be difficult to sell in the future, lots of older properties have them. Its just in the interests of your lender to establish who is responsible for maintainence etc0

Out of interest. When do the lenders pick up if a house is flying freehold?Oxfordmark

I told them. They asked leasehold or freehold so I said it was flying freehold!0

I just said free hold. Come to think of it I didn't know it was flying free hold until after the application as the form from my EA was sent a few days after. Would this be sent to Nationwide too?Oxfordmark

We are very lucky to be able to live in the Calder Valley full stop! It's beautiful here.

Looking at the fact find again. Under restrictions the seller has ticked the right of way box, then in the box he has written flying freehold. The under tenure he ticked freehold.Oxfordmark

Is there a passage way under one of the rooms, or do you need to access the property via such a passage?Note: Unless otherwise stated, my property related posts refer to England & Wales. Please make sure you state if you are discussing Scotland or elsewhere as laws differ.0

There is nothing wrong with flying freehold as such. But lenders are very wary if the total flying freehold section is over a certain percentage. I think it has something to do with the fact that if your 'under neighbour' neglects their property then your bit above could suffer.0

What if all that is under the room is a passageway? Is that better?
The calculated floor space for your property that over hangs or both properties?Oxfordmark
