3 days ago, I reported a seller to ebay for openly selling pirate DVD's. He said in the listings that they were not even released yet
ebay have not replied and the seller is still selling the items. Why won't they take action against people like this?

It seems that some auctions get pulled and some don't. I reported a whole load of sellers who admitted in their listings that they were selling copies and yet only about half the listings got pulled.
I just reported someone else today who actually contacted me through ebay offering me pirate copies to save me having to pay ebay prices for 'real' ones, wonder if he'll get his id pulled...
Not holding my breath though.

Keep reporting..
I tend to find that the more you report the quicker Ebay tend to act as you must become a bit of a pain in the neck to them. I sometimes also report people to Ebay using the 'problem with other member', 'seller', 'my problem isn't listed' route in help. (Think that's the titles). I think this gets a more personal look at the issue and I usually add more evidence such as feedback.
You won't normally get a reply from the normal 'report unauthorised copies' link. From the other one you sometimes get a blandish 'thanks for your report, can't really say anything but we do act etc.'

Sometimes I go on mad "reporting" sprees and have found eBay responses very hit and miss. I reported this seller back in february for selling me a pirate copy of MS Office but he/she's still selling!http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=80007&item=7150752372&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
I found a much better deal OpenOffice FREE download!0 -
I bought a dvd which was a pirate, although it didnt state on the listing that it was a counterfit.
I contacted ebay who said I should contact the seller as it may be a misunderstanding...... I mean..... what !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a blatant copy and I pisd a tenner for it. The sellers feedback is Private, so leaving feedback seems pointless.
ArhhhhhhhhhhhggggggDebt Free Jan 2010!(Be happy) the state of your life is nothing more than the state of your mind! X:j0 -
I dont understand why ebay let people keep their feedback private, its just an invitation for scammers0

Yes but you get what you pay for - Open office is like going back to Office 95...Well its not even that good.0 -
Just shop him to Trading Standards, do a search on your postcode to find your Local Authority.
If you've also got time shop him to FACT who represent the film companies, their Trade Marks and copyright.
I've tried making a complaint to ebay in the past on a similar issue and they didn't take any action as I wasn't the trademark or copyright owner.:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:0 -
Or just dont buy pirate DVDs if you dont want them...0
