Advice reclaiming PPI mainly Barclayloan/Barclaycard

We have had success reclaiming PPI from Nemo in the past but when we tried to reclaim from various Barclay products they refused to even deal with us, tried to claim at first we never had these products with them then that we weren't giving them enough info (we sent them copies of all statements and a lot of other proof that we both had been sold PPI and the fact we had missold it). We also issued an SAR letter to them, in fact we issued two with one of the accounts and they completely ignored it. So we feel like we have hit a brick wall.

I was looking for some advice really. Is it worth using a claims management company and if so which one doesn't charge a massive percentage and doesn't expect payment of their share before the bank has paid us? If it isn't worth using a claims management company can we complain to the ombudsman about the conduct of the various Barclays departments even though they haven't outright rejected our claim just refused to even look at it and claimed they don't have information on accounts which we know they have and if not we have given to them? Also any success stories re: Barclays and how did you go about it? Thank you Xx

Are you sending your complaints to the right address? Have your cheques for the SARs been cashed? What products are you complaining about and to who specifically? How did they respond to your complaints?

Don't bother with a caims company, they don't do anything you don't do, in fact, you do it, then they get the money for it.

You can complain to the Ombudsman only after you've complained to the Bank about their handling of your complaints. You say that Barclays have refused to look at your complaints because they have no records, but what did they say when you subsequently sent them documentation from your own archive? What reasons for complaint did you have? Remember, it's not wrong simply to have insurance; in order for it to be refunded to you it has to have been mis-sold.

As for Claims Management Companies, they have no extra power or influence over the Banks and do nothing you can't do yourself for free.

They either ignored most of the documentation sent from our own archive or said it wasn't enough (we are talking two or three seperate claims). On at least one of them they said we would have to send an SAR which we did but this was ignored despite definitely sending it to the right address, no they didn't cash the cheque. Because OH is so busy with work, after a while he stopped pursuing it because he barely has time to do essential paperwork. The accounts in question were in his name only. However he wants to pursue it again because he was missold the insurance as Barclays/Barclaycard made false claims with regard to the coverage the insurance offered and not only that but they made it seem like we absolutely had to take the PPI for the applications to be approved when we did not. You still aren't being clear. What exactly did you ocmplain about, loans, credit cards, mortgage etc.
    What evidence did you provide.
What weas the complaint basis for all of them.
Did you complain to the ICO after your SAR was ignored. If they didn't cash the cheque, then the chances are your request got lost somehwere.
    When did you originally complain.

Did they send a full and final response [or include a leafelt for the Financial Ombudsman Service insode a rejection letter] to him and if they did, when did they send it.

Barclaycard turned down my PPI claim too. They claimed there was no policy and when it was proved there was PPI, they said I had positively selected the product and that was their final offer. I have requested an SAR repeatedly.

I wrote to the FOS and after 18 months, Barclays have not sent any paperwork to them. So it has been sent to a team who deals with claims where there is no business file. My agent I spoke to said most of these cases were Barclays but that is only anecdotal.

You have one very slim chance left, and that's to find out who the insurer is or was, and complain to them.
It's a very slim chance and you will probably fail, but that's the only avenue left for you.

No, because the Finance and Leasing Association don't have anything to do with your complaint.
You've taken your complaint as far as it can go besides trying the insurers. You've been turned down by the bank that owns the card now, and the Financial Ombudsman. That's the end of the road.

We complained about 2 barclaycards and 2 barclayloans as far as I remember. All separate claims/complaints. Who are the ICO? Yes they did get the cheques as in at least one case the cheque was returned with no explanation. No they never sent a full and final response nor any leaflet. This was all last year. Sorry if I seem like I'm being vague because it was a while ago now and it was mainly OH writing and sending the letters. First time he wrote to them they pretty much denied he was ever a customer, then he got his account/credit card numbers and again they said they had no records of his accounts. So he got his old statements and sent them off. Again more diversionary tactics followed. He then asked them to send copies of the agreements for these various things and this request was ignored so he sent the SARs. We also wrote to them explaining why we felt we were missold. We had no problem claiming from Nemo, we wrote them one letter and they replied back with all the paperwork asked for and a cheque claim form, I appreciate that it isn't usually that easy but the difficulty with various Barclays stuff threw us a bit and because we had so much going on it threw us a bit and just due to being busy with so many things we didn't pursue it any more at the time as it already took about six months of us writing to them and really getting nowhere xx
