It hasn't done any harm Matty but I am interested as I know the data protection act in the Uk would not allow this unless permission had been granted. It was a ticketed event so I suppose it may be hidden in the T's and C's as per torbrex's reply
I better get onto to Sky and BBC and claim my football crowd actor expenses0 -
Peado's don't watch football, so your son should be ok.0

I know the data protection act in the Uk would not allow this unless permission had been granted.
Whatever makes you think that? An image is not data. The Data Protection Act covers information.
However some establishments (schools in particular) hide behind the DPA when banning people from filming/photographing school events in which children other then their own are participating.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

The person who owns the copyright of an image is *usually* the photographer.
Images are not defined as data (or information) under the DPA.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Images are not defined as data (or information) under the DPA.When considering the processing of ‘data’ we usually think of either
text information held on computer or information held on paper in
traditional manual files. The definition of ‘data’ is, however, not
limited to these two forms of information. Information in any form
(photographs, sound recordings or microfiche records) may come
within the scope of the Act if it falls within any of the definitions of
‘data’ in paragraphs (a) to (e) of subsection 1(1) of the Act.0 -
Ah, the wonderful meaningless word "may"One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

So all you need to do it turn a document into an image for it not to be covered by the DPA?
Data is the information (however stored) and the act covers the reason it is retained and to whom it can be legally distributed. Photographs of information would, according to the definition above, come under the DPA.
Photographs taken in public places are not normally protected as 'data'. Photographs are not in themselves 'information' unless there is information in the picture, IYSWIM.
If they were 'data' then the 'rich and famous' would be able to bring civil cases against the paparazzi when they've been papped, on holiday while sunbathing topless, for example, but they can't. And the pictures are sold to the highest bidder.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
