Help please, advice needed!
Hello. I recently had my phone broken (stupid story, cat jumped off the bed, landed on the screen and the LED crystals inside broke and smeared across the screen so I could not see anything). Anyway, I have a replacement phone now, a Blackberry, yet had no charger. I bought one from EE store in Reading (the service provider whom I am with). I plugged it into my BB and it did not work, saying it was not compatible. Then I decided to put my Samsung charger in my BB, and for some reason it was charging my phone. I rung up EE two days later (I bought this on last weds) and said I have a charger, its not working on my phone therefore it is faulty I would like a refund. The guy said we can exchange it but I said no, saying I have a charger that works and I do not need the BB one. He then said we do not do refunds, I said the item is faulty it is not doing what is advertised I am entitled to a refund. I said the box is slightly ripped as it was hard to get out, he said no refunds, yet that does not matter with a faulty item (i.e if you buy shoes with no box you cannot refund them unless faulty).
He then said if the charger works with other phones its not faulty, I said yes ok but it doesn't work with MY BB, and seeing as its a BB charger that's not doing what is advertised. I will go in the store tomorrow, asking politely for a refund. I work in retail, and have to deal with faulty items all the time. Even with no receipt or packaging we have to take the item back. What should I do, and what am I entitled to? I studied law, sociology and criminology at University, therefore I am fully aware of the Sales of Goods act, which states that even if the store policy is no refunds, I am entitled to one as the product is not providing the service that is being offered and that is a breach of contract of trade.
Does anybody have any advice what I should do, say and if they are in the right for not offering me a full refund? I have been with Orange/EE for 7 years and would honestly rather pay 300 odd quid to cancel my entire contact out of principle if they do not let me refund the charger!!

if i get what your saying, you purchase a charger for a phone, when you try said charger it is not as described it doesn't work in your phone? So its not fit for the purpose it was baught? If i understand (sorry hard to read in on mobile) you purchase from a major store which should hopefully give you more chance of getting what you want also they will have their own policies with refunds and returns ect. In short if it doesn't work for the purpose you baught it you should be entitled to an exchange but if im right a refund may be harder to get0

also - using a samsung charger may charge your phone but might not be good in long run for ur phone or battery. my personal recomendation (u dont need to listen or take my advice)would be to attend the shop with your phone and get a replacement for the one thats meant for your phone0

If its a Blackberry Charger then its returnable under SOGA for a full refund .
If its not a Blackberry charger but a multi-purpose charger . Not working on your model then it depends upon the purchase . If you asked for a charger for your Blackberry or the packaging had your model on it then full refund .
But if its a generic charger you just picked thinking this should be ok then its not faulty and not a refund.
Like you intend to quote the SOGA at them ask politely for a refund .Fails then its Trading Standards or even the Small Claims court .
Plus don't forget to give the company a nice review or three .

You buy a charger in person
It's faulty
Instead of taking it back you waste your time on the phone complaining
Do the right thing and physically take it back to the place you bought it from. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0
