If it's raining on a Sunday then the board games come out. The younger 2 normally start arguing and the older one becomes bored and starts texting his mates!

Sounds lie you are playing the wrong games, might I suggest Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride or Settlers of Catan
  • I'd say Cards Against Humanity is not to be played with anyone easily offended! We love it in our house and it normally gets played every time we have friends round though, make of that what you will...

For a MSE tip, always try charity shops for old games - sometimes you can get brand new ones or even if you get old and slightly rubbish ones you can always give them back to a charity shop and you've lost a couple of quid rather than the £30 or so for a new game!

Recently we went to drop off a donation and came away with 5 new games to play, we've already played through a couple and they were definitely worth the few quid spent.

I posted in DT shortly after Christmas that I had been searching high and low for an old board game I had when I was younger. I remember really enjoying playing the game with my Dad and after telling my own kids about it they became excited to play it as well, but it was nowhere to be found... It was called Escape from Atlantis.

I gave up looking after scouring both here and at my Mom's house but managed to get it on eBay for around a fiver plus postage.

The kids love it and it's a simply enough game for my autistic Daughter to join in with. It still gets regular outings and some weekends it's had gadgets left dumped in the corner of the room.

Wil Wheaton (yep, Wesley Crusher from TNG) does videos on Utube (don't know if I should call it by its proper name here) that make some board games look brilliant. Just search for Tabletop. I think it's the Ticket to Ride video that nearly made me die laughing at the end. Unfortunately I don't think a lot of these games are good for two players, and DH and I don't really know anyone who would be interested in playing, so I just enjoy the videos.
  • There are a few good two player games that Mr Wheaton has done, Ticket to Ride, Castle Panic, Pandemic to name a few, but in fairness many games work better as three player experiences, I can highly recommend Carcassonne for two player however.

In that case, I also recommend Zombie Dice

I have Zombie Dice, our son intorduced me., of course he always wins but is in Colorado so I cannot play often. so I have no-one in UK to play with. how do I get to play games when husband is not interested. He would rather watch TV, the only game he plays with me is Scrabble and I had to stop in the winter as broke 2 ribs and could not sit comfortably. Poss now summer we can go sit out in the conservatory where our Dining table is
BUT HE STILL will NOT play Zombie Dice with me.
    any suggestions please.

Board games? I believe they are deprecated in favour of the video game.

Only if you like playing with yourse... erm, I mean playing on your own ;)

You can invite family and friends around or there are many board game groups around the country, look on Board Game Geek

For a money saving tip if you want buy a game, look on Gameslore and check out their "Damaged games" list. The "damage" is often no more than a dented corner on the box where someone's dropped it, but you can get an extra £5 off the (already good) price!
if i had known then what i know now

Look out for a local gaming groups. There will be a lot of wargamers, and a number of roleplayers, but a large proportion of them should be open to playing board games (especially games that involve zombies :D).
