Thanks ILC. DH not technical so a simple Kindle will do him fine! He seldom touches laptop except when I want him to enter something on FB.
You can get a FREE audio book for the (simple) Kindle (connect to PC to download) I got BOB the Street cat FREE.
Went to Supermarket whilst cooler & quieter. Quickly checked online for any bargains first (Ketchup/Spread/Soup/Marmalade)

My heart goes out to peeps who are struggling with sleep at night and then have a days work ahead
Popped out early again today (while it was coolish) to get more yog, strawberries, peaches and bananas (before everything sells out at the weekend) - easy to eat and good for me bones etc I suppose
Me neighbours husband is struggling around on crutchesand met a lovely guy this morn hobbling along on crutches with full plaster cast on his leg!!!!! Imagine having that in this heat!!:eek:
Seems this weather will continue well into next week - love the sunshine but oh ..... the nights are a challenge!!!
If I win the euro tonight, then puddy n me are going to get air conditioning installed!!!Neighbour has swimming pool but rarely used these days!!!!

Good morning all, looks to be a lovely day again here. Went to bed last night a slept like a log.
So sorry for you rosemac/ecogirl/Indie who had it really hot last night. You have the right idea with the fan ecogirl. I have one but it is in the wardrobe as Lottie won't stop barking when I put it on. Sigh.
Thanks for the lovely yorkie pics this morning firefly/iluvcats, they are lovely.
Glad the hedgehog survived Wingo. Bet you will be really glad to see DD again after her trip. Does this mean you are finishing work today for the school hols as well?
Well done on the glass win Sheils, didn't win one yesterday so must have another go today.
firefly - bit worried about my herbs which I have been caring for so well for the last few weeks, they are looking great, the basil looks so vibrant and smells lovely too. Anyway we are going to DD2's next week and wondering what to do with them. Do you think they would survive if I put the pots out in the garden and hope we get a bit of rain? Would hate to lose them now.
We are off to town soon just waiting for DH to get out of the shower.BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO POST THE COMPETITIONS0 -
Good Morning all
sorry i have not been in since i got back been so busy trying to catch up on everything, where does the dust come from when you have been away, missed the chat but i saw one of you had been to seaton ( sorry i think it was Ilc ) been there many a time lovely place but not to much there and beach not sand
shiels sounds like you had a lovely time at the hotel :j
i know your ok fire**fly coz i have spoken to you
i would like to tell you all a little story from when i was on holiday, my sister rang me a few days into holiday ( i thought she had won something :rotfl: ) anyway our local paper had ran a story looking for the owners of a wedding album they found while moving offices, it was only my mother and fathers wedding album from the 50's ( god knows why they had it, sis asked but they don't know ) sister sent me a couple of pictures to look at in an email but i met her when i got home and now have the albumit was lovely to see how happy they were on the day but brought back many mixed emotions some happy some sad. mum died when i was 18
so sad because of that. happy to see all the people that were family most long gone but seeing my fav uncle looking so young, he must have been all of 16
you can see in your mind eye all your childhood memory's come flooding back about how she used to keep all her wedding things in a tin :rotfl: the horseshoe, a little velvet black cat that my sister only remembered about when i told her and all the little bits from the cake. anyway that's my little story
hope you all have a great day

love the story oddies :A
some good & sad memories yes, but, lovely to have them :A
thanks for sharing :A:j
glad the herbs are doing well sylv :j
if you put them out they'd have to be in a shady, wind free area while they're still so young,
The basil i find best not to put outside as it's quite a tender plant,
when we used to go away & had young plants/herbs that weren't hardened off i used to have a couple of cat trays or you can use any type of tray that'll hold water & place them in them, put them in a shady place & they should be ok,
but i'd leave the basil in a cool house/greenhouse in a tray with lots of water,
you can start hardenening them off now & if you place them out in the day, bring in in the evenings each day for about 2/4 days they'll be hardened off enough for staying out,
hope I've explained that ok
if not ask away again & i'll try to explain better
loving the pics all :j:j
good luck for the euro alfie :A

Sylv - don't think rain is forecast for some time!! Are the herbs in pots?
If so, do you have a kindly neighbour who could come in and give them a drink morn and night? Or could you take yon herbs round to a neighbour who could look after them while you are away? Seems a shame to lose them
Just googling to see what else you can do xxxxxxxMILITARY WIVES CHOIRSHELP for HEROES0 -
Lol ff!! Good info - we often used the bath for indoor plants when we were away
Hoping sylv has kindly neighbours - always helps big time and peace of mind, but not always possible I guess
Luckily not going anywhere this year so can take care of herbs, veggies, plants etc - though drought conditions are rather challenging!!!
Crikes - flipping hot here!!!!!
Hope all yon peeps are keeping cool!!!

have used the bath before when we lived in the old house as well alfie
used to put all the houseplants in, it's a great idea :j
don't think sylv has a bath though am sure she just has a
shower,
have also used old washing up bowls to place pots in outside in shady areas while away,
if you can't/don't have any deepish trays,
the plants will drink from the bottom as much as they need,
you can get watering systems but they're expensive & not worth it in
my humbles if it's only for a week or a few days,
then there's the option of making a home made watering system
which I've done before but it's so faffy doing I never bothered again
easier to just place in deep trays
tis hot here out as well alfie
am keeping cool inside
postie just bought me another book:j:j
one for mates LO again, he loves them :j:j
have a lovely time at the pub Katie :j
