Whether you go to court or not depends on your finances.Your only recourse it to take the airline to court. See: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=62544483&postcount=2063
The court costs are not unduly excessive. If you think your case has a reasonable chance of being successful go ahead, if it will cause some financial problems you may have to walk away.
In my case I felt so angry at the way we were treated both on the day and after that I was determined to go all the way and was successful, we received an offer and settled out of court.0
