Sounds like its blocked, if the guy is a regular at the stall then contact the police and tell them he has sold you a barred phone, this is a big crime these days and he can go to prison for upto 5 years, it is best to ask the police what to do first, ask them if you are able to sell the phone as spares and repairs on ebay as you can get quite a good price but ask the police first !!
  • try updating the operator setting at whatever site your sim is from

It does sound like the phone you bought is blocked. I found a quite useful page that lists the various signs that a phone has been blocked. I'd double check it to make sure that your phone really has been blocked.

http://allgsm.co.uk/imei/imeicheck.htm They also offer to check if your phone is barred for £9.99 but I wouldn't bother; report it to the police as soon as you're 110% certain you've been sold a lost/stolen phone.

    Definitely blocked.

Operator settings has nothing to do with calling.

Try a different simcard. It might work.

Its deffo blocked, the quicker its reported to the police the quicker they hopefully can remove another scum bag off the stalls who are ripping off vunerable people,it makes me sick to my stomach that they have done this and hope he gets the punishment that the police have said will happen to people who sell blacklisted phones, If that is done and it is well published then it will make other people think twice about doing it.

Excuse me, but you're all making assumptions here. What facts do you have that this phone has been blocked by the networks?

All the buyer has said is that they've bought a phone from a bootsale and that the phone doesn't seem to work. The phone might just be farked, it may have just had a wannabe unlocker have a go at it and lobotomised it. It's a while since I looked at an L6, but I seem to remember they needed a track cutting for testpoint originally.

Now, let's ask the OP a couple of questions. Are the sims you are using current and working in other phones or are they ones that you've had lying around the house? What network sim cards have you put in the phone and what message do you get when you put them in the phone, and what message do you get when you try to dial out?

Exactly right!!, one of the favorites with the L6, was test point unlock and then not reconnecting the RF cable afterwards. Hence, no signal.

    Best regards
