Just a quick update for anyone who is interested.

The Sony KDL40X2000 is an absolutely stunning piece of kit that performs excellantly (the X2000 has now been delisted and replaced, you can still buy some for hefty discounts) - when it is viewed via Sky HD it has an unbelieveably good picture.

& when the BluRay Player comes at the end of the week I'll be a very happy puddy cat :j:j

I was going to go for the 1080p set but then I read that you probably will not be able to tell the difference in picture quality between an 1080p and a 720p model on screens of less than 40 inches. Also none of the UK broadcasters , eg bbc, virginmedia, sky etc have any plans to ever introduce 1080p. Realistically the only way to see the superior picture of the dearer model is to watch DVDS which is something I rarely do so I ended plumping for the 720p one(or will do when I can get some cash together)

hmmm, you pays your money, you takes your choice :j

My TV is going to last me for a while, so I wanted the best that I can afford. I appreciate what you are saying about 720p vs 1080p and without seeing them side by side, I couldn't honestly offer an opinion.

But I have seen a 1080p X, connected up to a Bluray player and the picture was nothing short of jaw dropping --- and thats what I'm hoping for on Friday night when my Bluray player comes :j:j

p.s Sky HD look the 'dogs' on it as well
  • Better still don't buy a LCD at all and get a plasma
Nothing to see here, move along.
