I have been given the official 'word' that I can treat myself to a BigBoy LCD TV :j :j
I like Sony as I've had good products from them in the past, and the Sony Bravia TV's seem to get very good reviews, but can anyone tell me (in easy to understand language) what the difference is between them in quality?
I fancy a 40" Bravia, and the prices range from £799 for a KDL-40U2000, to over £1600 for a KDL40X2000U, with several versions in between.
Can anyone help me ?

They have just bought out the 3000 series so you should get some good prices for the 2000 and 2500 series.0 -

It gets me on the way, but it doesn't really let me know why an 'X' Brvia is twice the price of a 'U' Bravia (if you what I mean) and when I go onto specialist forums, they start talking in Techie Techobabble :rotfl:
As regarsd some good prices being available, your not kidding, are you ?0 -
i feel your pain MTC!!
I have jjust started a simlar thread on not having a clue which sony to buy!!!
there is a big difference in price, but i dont know what the difference is!!

This lists the differences between the models-

I have included the 32U2000 as they dont seem to have the 40U2000.
Basically the difference is the contrast ratio which is supposed to improve the picture. If you cannot notice the difference in the shop buy the cheapest one.0 -

cheers Icon.
The problem that I find when I go to a TV shed (like Comet) is that you're viewing screens from a much closer distance than normal (2 feet away rather than 6-10 feet), the picture input is not universal (some analogue, some satellite, some HD and an occassional bluray) and that the people who 'help' you are complete pants !
I think that I'm going to have to have a drive out to a Sony Centre and speak to some (hopefully), experts.
Divadee, when that happens, I'll let you know how I get on.
BTW, I came across this 40" Sony Bravia yesterday for £799.99, which diesn't seem to be a lot of moy at all, for a BigBoy Sony TV. except that it only has one hdmi input.0 -
get yourself over to https://www.avforums.com and have a look there. You'll find a wealth of info, although your head might explode trying to make sense of it all!
There'll probably be a thread dedicated to the models you are interested in.It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

Well the main difference is that the X series is 1080p and the U is 720p0
-
cheapest sony 40" seems to be £699 so the price range widens.

Hello folks
I've just pulled the trigger and ordered a KDL40X2000. Hopefully by this time next week it will be up and running and I'll be a happy moggy :j0
