It might also be worth looking to see if your local cinema does Autism Friendly screenings of kids films as these are often played at a much quieter volume (and you are allowed to take your snacks in, no need to hide them!)0

Is the cinema noise louder than in the school playground?
Yeah, absolutely. Much louder and less diffused. When I'm at the pictures I get that feeling in my chest because the bass is so loud, plus the walls squeak from the distortion at the top end too. You don't get that in the playground."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
also useful if you go to a formula one race.
the cars don't come round too often but the noise they make if your in the stands is horrendous. not so bad in the open.
Even I have to wear them when we get seats in the stands though.
I have those you get for road digging so no idea for kids but darn good idea:)63 mortgage payments to go.

My 5 year old has the edz ones that have been recommended, they seem pretty comfy and do the job. He is autistic so he uses them in the cinema, air show etc.
Although our local cinema has started doing 'autism friendly' screenings and they are fab! The volume is at a normal level, they keep the lights on, I love it!Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0 -

Totally agree with this. The last time I went I had to leave the screen during the adverts.

I use these for my daughter for everything from rock concerts (side of stage to see daddy) to cinemas. She's had them for a couple of years and they are still going strong and grow with her (she's almost 5 now). They come in a range of colours too.

I have to ask...is your husband in a famous group?! Also that link is great; taking DD to see Bon Jovi @ Hyde Park and these would be good.0 -

That's the best bit about going to see a Grand Prix - the noise!! Well that and the oily smell, but the noise, wow!! I wouldn't have thought of wearing earmuffs, even when I went to my first race aged 11. Although I've never been posh enough for a grandstand ticket, only ever sat in the open.
Same with airshows we used to go to when I was a kid, best bit was the noise. We took DD and DS to an airshow two years ago and they loved it too, no ill effects. They've never experienced the noise from a Vulcan though - one of those taking off used to get you in the stomach more than the ears iirc.
I've got to say though, I go to the cinema alot with my two and I've never seen anyone, adult or child, with earmuffs on. It's loud, but it's not that loud!
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
