I buy a lot of things from Ebay and am now so frustrated with myHermes that i had to post this to see if i can put people off from using this truly terrible and frustrating company.
I have had several deliveries from myHermes.
The problems are always the same.
They are supposed to make 3 attempts at delivery. At the first they are meant to leave a card with their name and number for you to contact them to arrange the next delivery.
However i suppose they get a fixed fee for delivery so there is no incentive for the delivery drivers to do this.
What they do instead is come once, then leave a card without their name or number saying this was the third attempt so the item is returned to sender.
There is no way for the addressee to contact myHermes, so that is that.
This is a truly dreadful service. I dont want to overpraise the PO but really, at least you can go and collect at the depot over the next week or can always find their number to ring for a redelivery. If they cost a little more it still makes sense as otherwise you send a parcel with a high chance you have paid for it just to come back to you.
This is the fourth time out of the last five my Hermes deliveries i have had where this sort of nonsense has happened.
The other time i just happened to be in when they randomly came, so they could deliver at the first attempt.
Please avoid them like the plague.
It seems wrong to give negative feedback to the ebay seller when this happens but from now on I am going to, as otherwise people will keep thinking they have saved a few pence by using this rubbish company and it is worth it.
I have waited for two weeks for this delivery, and now it has gone back to sender, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

It's not a few pence, it's a few pounds, at least until next week, when My Hermes put their prices up also, then everything you buy on eBay will be more expensive. Just keep putting the blame on the poor sellers and watch you get banned from one after another until eventually eBay will look into what you are doing.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. I just wanted to add to that the number of times you hear, "yes but I would be willing to pay more for a better service" after a bad experience, but as a business seller, we know full well most items sit on the shelf if people can't click "sort by price" and click "buy" on the cheapest.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. I suppose it depends on area as my hermes driver is excellent and ive never had a problem with him or the company tbh.
Problem is with the rm hikes buyers are marking the poor sellers down because of costs so to save their customers money [and save their stars an accounts]are moving to a cheaper service.
then their getting blasted for doing this.
seems to damned if they do and damned if they dont.
If you dont like a certain delivery service then dont buy from a seller that uses it.0 -
I agree that sellers should take responsibility for the parcels they send but I am quite shocked that a buyer would continue to buy from sellers using a service they don't like, and then neg them when it goes wrong.
If you don't like MyHermes then don't buy from sellers that use them, to me that seems obvious, or am I missing something?
If you want something and seller is only offering MyHermes then it might be worth dropping them an email asking if you could pay the extra and have it RM instead. You could well be looking at expensive postage if they want tracked post, but if that is what you want then ask . If seller says no, or ignores the question, buy elsewhere.
I offer both MyHermes and RM and at the moment my prices are £3 for MyHermes and £5.60 for RM and I have had one person opt for RM so far.
Interestingly there is another thread today where a seller has received a comment saying postage was expensive, because they opted for RM when MyHermes would have been half the price.

I also suspect it might get worse with MyHermes price changes. Whilst I am a little upset at the price hike for under 1kg the increase in insurance value will mean that a 1.9 kg parcel worth £50 could go via MyHermes for £4.20 but £9.10 2nd class recorded or £11 special deliveryI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Can you post your ebay username so I can block you please?0 -
If you were waiting for this delivery, why didn't you request the tracking info from the seller? You could then pop it into my hermes tracking & find out exactly where it was, hardly rocket science.
I called My Hermes once about a delivery I was expecting & they contacted the courier, found out an approx time they planned on delivering & then called me back to let me know. Excellent service in my eyes.
If you have a rubbish delivery agent in your area then don't buy from sellers using them.0 -
Tessel, you are another for the TSFE list. If you don't like something, don't pay for it. Simples.
As a seller, I use Hermes regularly, as for some items they're half the price of Royal Mail, and most buyers sort by 'Price + P&P, lowest first', meaning I sell more if I use them.
Less than 1% of my deliveries with them are a problem, far less than Royal mail, or most other couriers I use.0 -
My Hermes is very good value for money and whereas Royal Mail have just halved the included insurance value Hermes have doubled theirs to £50.
My local Hermes delivery man is excellent. He even comes out on a Sunday delivering parcels if he has been unable to deliver during the week.
Contrast that with City Link who only claim to make two delivery attempts before returning to sender and a "delivery attempt" means no more than loading it on the van then taking it back to the depot because he ran out of time or forgot to stop at my door and just takes it back to base again.
As others have said it really comes down to your local man and I am sorry to hear you have got a bad one but it is unreasonable to write of the whole myhermes operation.0 -
