Slow internet with TalkTalk

We've been with TalkTalk for a while now but are really frustrated with the slow internet connection speeds we get. Just accessing & logging on to this forum this morning took an age. It's particularly bad in the evenings & on Sat mornings. Could it be that the number of TalkTalk customers > server/hub capacity they've purchased?
Plan to switch to BT Infinity - plus looking fwd to getting all the free footy :-)

what speed are you getting? how far are you from your exchange?
have you played around with router settings? I found my talktalk router was set to a specific wifi channel by default, changed it to select dynamically and speeds improved a bit.0
