This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all:j:j
Damp and chilly here this morning,
Looks like its been raining on and off all night.
More rain showers due today I think.
Well That's another full nights sleep for me:j:j Bed 10:45pm
And I did not wake up once until 5:00am this morning when I got up:j:j
Today is day two of the half a steroid a day, Another two days of the half a tablet and I will be off them!:T:T
Still got all my others but its the steroids that I don't like.
All tablets taken and Im on the first coffee of the day.
Today If it stops dry enough, We are off to a local town center on the bus to have a look around a Victorian street market that they are putting on.. Don't know what it will be like.
We need a few items of shopping but not a lot. and The only important thing that we really need is a Joint of meat or a chicken for tomorrow.
Heavy rain showers are forecast for today, So apart from doing our bit of shopping and having a look around this market, We will not be doing much I don't think.
I'm feeling stronger and doing more each day now.
But I have been finding that I'm getting tired quickly, Not In my body but my brain, Its seems to go very think and tired, And them my eyes starting getting very heavy and I end up falling asleep. Iv not really had this before with my other Ops,
Maybe its because I'm older ? or maybe its because Of the part of the brain that that have done the Op on this time ? I don't know. I shall ask on Wednesday when I go for my check up. If they don't cancel .
Dinner last night was very tasty :T:T
We tried another new recipe. And this one worked unlike the one we tried the night before!!
The recipe came out of River Cottage every day Veg.
As par the book, it was a Veg only recipe. But we did add meat to our meal,
We had,
Chickpeas with Cumin and spinach, We served our's with Roast Spuds and A chicken thigh.
The meal very very tasty and we will be having it again.
the recipe also uses a tin of Tom's In it. Even know its dose not say that In the name of the dish.
The book's servicing suggestion, Say's to eat it with flat bread or rice'pasta.
It was quick and easy to do.
I'm quite likening River Cottage Every day Veg at at the moment.
Ok I will admit that we keep changing the recipe by adding meat to it and the whole point of the book it great tasty stuff to do with Veg! but there you go.
I do have to say, Everthing that we have tried out of this book has been tasty and the recipe has worked !
That recipe that we did on Thursday night was off a recipe card that we had out of our Veg box, That one for us did not really work, We shall be doing it again. But we will be changing to to suit us and only basing the meal on the recipe.
No meal plans for today as yet, But there will be four of us for dinner tonight, The plan is to cook once for the four of us and eat together, So what ever we have it needs to be something the Girls will like and Eat.
Well I hope that you all enjoy your Saturday,
Have fun:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Morning everyone
Halight - looks like it's you and me again to start the day! Sounds like your body is starting to settle down and once you get off the steroids you'll feel happier I think.
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Sunny with only light wispy clouds here this morning, very wet underfoot as it's rained during the night but forecast is sunshine until late on this afternoon when we may get rain. Good job it's not raining now as we have the annual village yard sales this morning - hence the reason I'm up at this ridiculous hour on a Saturday morning!
DH and DS1 up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken pieces in a bun with chips and salad for the menfolk, I had jacket potato, green beans and salmon, treats from the tins for the menfolk, I had a yogurt. Tonight I'm not sure but have plenty in so we won't starve.
I had a good day yesterday, was reasonably productive - managed to get to town, bank, shopping. Once I got home I made 2 doz twinks, 1 doz choc chip cookies and a tray of choc brownies - menfolk all happy that there's HM stuff in the tins! Did my usual food shop in A**i, price was in the region of how much I wanted to spend - did then go to MrT as I had some vouchers and needed to get the Fathers day prezzies, they had legs of lamb on special offer and as it's so expensive don't buy it very often so bought one of those for tomorrow's lunch, then bought chocs and wine for the dad's for tomorrow, used up some vouchers so actually only paid £11.03 - so very pleased with that. Felt calm and satisfied all day yesterday - I'm managing to get more of these days - I'm now able get myself into the frame of mind of writing a list of chores to do and then getting stuff done but if something happens and it doesn't get done then don't get overwhelmed and start to panic. I've now become able to look at what needs to be done and prioritise so generally the only stuff that gets left/still needs to be done are things that are not so important. Also I've been trying to lose some more weight and being very good with what I've been eating etc, and it's paying off the weight loss is very slow but coming gradually so would just like to lose another half stone and then I'll be happy - will keep going until our hols - want to be able to sit in the outdoor hot tub with a glass of wine in the evenings!
I can't believe its a year today since my Aunt passed away - the time has passed so quickly. I'll be going off to the buy some flowers and to visit the cemetery later.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Hubby is of to work soon, just 'til 1:30 & then my DD's taking us to lunch for a fathers day treat as he's so good to her & her kids, she buys his a fathers day card & alters it to read 'To the best stepdad in the world.
She should be moving in 2 to 4 weeks in to the house she has bought & then she'll have lots of jobs for hubby.
I have 2 loads of washing on the line, and the DW needs unloading. I'll go to get petrol once I've dropped hubby off & then go to DD2's to give her a break.
Time I fed the fish, they are glaring at me from the tank.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning chums I am hoping that the sun that is out at the moment lasts until just after lunch at least as its DD's special-needs school Fete today. They so desperately need extra cash for the kids and last year they had to cancel because of bad weather.I have made lots of cake and biscuits for the ladies to sell on the cake stall.I shall be taking the boys there at 11 as they like to go and join in with the children as their Auntie Shelley rushes around looking flustered and collecting cash
:)There are the usual book stalls and used toys and different games for them to have a go on and I always spend a bob or two as its such a good cause. One year I won a big bottle of single malt and I don't drink the stuff and the caretaker gave me a tenner for it I was happy and so was he:):)The children at the school are lovely and such friendly souls bless them My DD is always banging on the LEA authority's doors for extra cash for them. The local fire brigade come along and bring an appliance which the kids all swarm over with delight. We just pray for good weather as the school hall is far too small to hold it indoors.
Right time is getting on so I must have some breakfast and drop some bits off to eldest Dds for her to take with her first thing ,then round to youngest Dds to collect the boys mid-morning.
Hope everyone has a great day and the sun shines down on us all
Cheers chums

Morning everyone,

Halight Glad that you are on the mend.

JackieO Hope the weather holds for the fete.
Sun is shining at the moment but it is not going to last!!!
Going to town with DD1 for a girly morning and then coming home to tidy the tip!
DS is up ready for work, DD2 is watching "Toddlers and Tiaras"
, and OH is snoring!!!
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Good morning everyone

Sun is shining here but it was hammering down with rain 5 minutes ago so I think it may be a changeable day.
Am off out with DH, DD and DGD to shop for DD's birthday gift and have a meal later so hopefully we can dodge the showers. DH will keep DGD distracted while DD and I do the shopping!
Already started on list of weekend jobs and the bathroom is sparking and smells like a swimming pool. Am very interested in Halight's story about vinegar and the weeds. I already keep a stock of cheap vinegar for cleaning windows and adding to egg water, so I may give it a go between the paving stones and in the gravel beds.
No dinner to prepare as we are going out. Freezer has lots of carby stuff in there so am going to donate it to DD later, together with some alcohol bits and pieces, left over from Christmas that I rounded up when tidying a kitchen cupboard. Will then try and get to a farm shop tomorrow and restock the freezer with meat but I need to work out the budget first. It's a week to DH's payday and we seem to have a bit of money left over. I just need to make sure I haven't miscalculated something.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day
