For those of you lucky enough to have a father in your life worthy of the title, let him know tomorrow, and at other times how much he means to you, please.

For the rest of us, pfffft, it's another hallmark day.

My biological father is the pits but my Dad is most definitely the best!!

As my cousin said about herself when she was four - "I've got a Daddy who made me and a Daddy who loves me". Sums it up for me too.

Got a great (albeit Victor Meldrew-esque) FIL too!

This is my situation also so my dads the best - sperm donor an a**e!!

I've been three times lucky - I had a lovely father, my OH was an awesome one, and my sons are all brilliant daddies - as is my daughter's OH.

I obviously have a very lucky - and full of love - family x

    I think that's a bit blinkered.

I was born to people who weren't fit to be parents and taken by the local authority and my child's father hates me for not loving him any more and leaving him accordingly. My incredible grandad is dead.

Ergo, father's day is horrible for me. Pretty sure that's not my fault though.

{{hugs}} That's horrible for you - nobody deserves that - I hope you now have love in your life.

My father and my OH are also dead. x

    Thank you though :)

Ive not seen my father since I was 4 and he failed to turn up for an access visit. He then told me to !!!!!! off when I tried to contact him when I was 16. He also paid nothing for me, my mum had to take him to court to get him to pay the absolute minimum which was a couple of pounds a week in those days. Hes much wealthier than my mum.

He has another family and a son, none of them know anything about me.

My brothers father also has nothing to do with him, I think hes seen him a couple of times and he used to visit my mum now and then when he was home from Australia, my brother answered the door to him once and my mum told my brother who he was, he never came back.

Some fathers are great. Others are a waste of oxygen. I got plenty love from my mum and my brother, but our respective fathers are less than great.

I actually contacted my father through a company that he owns a couple of weeks ago, not directly, I sent an email to him telling him that Ive had a brilliant life with my mum, attached a photograph and explained that even though his actions had an effect on me growing up, that to the people in my life who do care about me, Im worth knowing.

And that I didnt and dont want a penny from him, now or ever, I fully expect to be cut out of his will and I wouldnt have it any other way.
  • My father has been, and is continuing to be, a poor excuse for a father BUT I do have an amazing grandfather who I have always thought the world of and I will be telling him so tomorrow.
