    They can't take the customers goods, make no mention of a possible cost, then come back later and tell the customer there's a bill to pay or they can't have their goods back.

    I imagine there will be something along the lines of "if the item is out of warranty, I agree to pay for the repair" on the bit that OP signed. Not a specific mention of a courier charge, but something more general
