I imagine that as the fault is down to the customer they are able to charge for their costs.
In which case they need to make it clear that this is the case before sending it away.
They can't take the customers goods, make no mention of a possible cost, then come back later and tell the customer there's a bill to pay or they can't have their goods back.0 -
I imagine there will be something along the lines of "if the item is out of warranty, I agree to pay for the repair" on the bit that OP signed.
