Sorry if this is the wrong thread - please move if it is.

I have been asked to find the ringtone from the television ad for the Nissan which has the music from the film A Fistfull Of Dollars. It sounds like a music box but is from a pocket watch (I think there were two that played the same tune), dum de dum, dum de dum.... you know the one!

Managed to find out it is called Sixty Seconds to What? or, the first 22 seconds of 187 Lockdown - gunman.

However, the latter is the modern version and the guy wants the original, tinkly music box type version.

Anyone any ideas please. Willing to pay normal rates.

If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.

Only ever downloaded direct to phone. Any instructions on downloading without cable? I think I have bluetooth but not sure how that works from a pc or whether I have the hardware.

if your PC doesn't you can get a dongle, download the software and it's easy from there on. Presume your phone has bluetooth?
  • got to Zedge.net.
when you join, in the email you will get a WAP address so you can download direct to your phone just by uploading it to your upload shack on their site.

I have the music file which is in MP3 format and 2,908 KB long. How do I shorten it and convert it to a ringtone please?

Have Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 but that only creates ringtones in the US, doesn't work in the UK. No instructions on how to convert a file to a ringtone.

  • the idea of making the file smaller for use of ringtone is mainly in two parts.. shortening to the length of song required and lowering the bitrate the song plays in.
to sort the clip of a song you want, there are tools usually with mobile phone software like nokia media centre or motorola mobile phone tools.. both these along with others can cut the clip you require.
when converting a clip into mobile phone use, your MP3's are usually around 128-320 mbps and they only need to be about 64-96 mbps. so select a lower bitrate for phone use... and this also makes the filesize smaller as not as much memory is used.

Thank you to everyone for your help.

With the use of Roxio I shortened the clip and faded out the middle bit then saved it as an MP3 file 955kb in size (didn't know how to change bit rate).

Then using the suggested website, Zedge.net uploaded it to my private account then from my mobile, logged into my private account and dowloaded it. Took over an hour but I did it AND managed to save it as a ringtone.

    No bluetooth or cable involved!

Thank you to everyone for guidance.

Now.... how can I transfer it to my mates phone..............

  • have your mate open a Zedge account and upload it to their upload shack at least it is free (WAP charges by operator apply..but i get 5mb free wap from O2)..that is it cannot be copied accross with bluetooth.
Have your friends phones bluetooth on locate me/find me mode..whichever phone it is, just make it bluetooth visable,
now goto the clip you want to send, select MENU then select COPY> BLUETOOTH> then your phone should search for the device, pair up and send.
