Easyjet Bag drop at Gatwick North

We booked in on line (including our hold luggage) and printed off our tickets. When we arrived at Gatwick North we expected to just be able to drop off our hold baggage but we had to join a long queue which took 50 minutes. We were rather disappointed at this aspect. We have flown with Easyjet many times before and have only taken cabin luggage. Is it usual to have to wait that long when taking hold luggage. That issue apart we have no complaints about Easyjet.

How long did you arrive before your flight?

Yes, it's normal, baggage drop queues are as long as check-in queues used to be as it's pretty much the same process as check-in.

This is the same for all airlines, not just Easyjet, infact on some airlines that offer separate queues the check-in queues can be shorter than the bag drop queues.

I remember when they used to say "quick bag drop." They soon dropped the "quick."
  • I usually fly with them early afternoon from gatwick north, and the queues are non-existent. I always walk straight up. Guess you probably went at about 6 - 8 am, when they operate over half of all flights out of Gatwick. probably why there are the queues.

I flew with Easyjet from Gatwick North about a week and a half ago, take-off at about 10:00. Queue was practically non-existent. On the way back at Bari airport the queue was longer, but not 50 minutes. You can always pay for speedy boarding, which has a separate bag drop queue, if you don't like queuing.

  • If you pay for the "Speedy Boarding" package I believe the Bag Drop is a lot quicker. I hear this is quite an expensive option and I have not used it myself. Last time I flew by EasyJet from Gatwick it was a very early morning flight about 6.15 and there were lengthy queues to drop off our hold baggage. We allowed plenty of time and caufght our flight.

I paid Easyjet not a large sum of money for specified seats and this package included a dedicated bag drop at Gatwick .It saved long queues. This was last year so I am not positive this option is still open.
  • It is still open, and still works very well. Never a queue and the priority bag drop.

Anyone know what is the earliest time we can drop bags at the north terminal. I know it's fairly organised there and we have a late morning flight. fairly certain last time we dropped them before the 2 hr official time. We have pre-booted seats too so assuming we can make use of the dedicated bag drop. Im really hoping we can drop them nearer 3 hours before and hoping someone has a better recent memory than me .. ??

At gatwick you can drop them off the night before if you really want to, so you can basically drop them as early as you want. You only get to use the priority bag drop if you've booked 'up-front' seats or extra space seats, if you booked the £3 seats, it's standard drop for you.
