Stand duty land tax

I've been sent a form SOC14 from conveyancer and it says if I want them to fill in the paperwork and pay stamp duty I need to fill in the form as authorise them as my tax agent.
The conveyancer will charge me £50 plus vat for doing this.
Is it hard to do myself? What will it involve?
Thanks

Ask your conveyancer whether the £50 was included in their original quote. I bet it is.0

On the original quote it states they will charge £50 for filling it in and describe it as lengthy, it says its optional.0

Just had a look on-line. You could probably do it yourself, but it looked a pain and something that conveyancing solicitors rather than their clients normally do.
Let them do it and for £50 the liability is theirs?0 -
Any decent conveyancer will include this as part of their service.
You chose a cheaper quote, but findit is not all-inclusive.
Like going to the garage offering a cheap service, and then being told "by the way, here's some oil - you need it changing. Either do it yourself or we'll do the oil change as well as the service, but it will cost an extra £50"!
Yes, you can DIY the SDLT. It's a 7 page form or so. Up to you.

Blooming heck. They can do it. I've enough going on with my broken foot and packing the house up
Thanks!0 -
G_M I don't know if you agree with me, but I firmly think that employing a good conveyancing solicitor is the most important thing in the whole process.0

I think they are ok, I've had about four people recommend them, it's a local Independent firm, that's all they do. They are about five streets away.
They've been good so far. Although I'm getting worried as I'm hoping to complete at end of month and wondering if there's enough time!0 -
Give 'em £50 then!
My mortgage offer runs out at the end of June (originally offered in November - don't ask) so I share your anxiousness. House warmings in July?0 -
I really hope so. Got to leave my rented place at the end of the month! It still doesn't feel real! And I'm trying to sort it all out while hopping around like a mental person! I've had surgery to pin broken bones in my foot, and not allowed to walk! Talk about stress!!
I keep telling myself it will be worth it!
Will you be sorted by time it runs out?0 -
I hope so! Nearly got the last issue with the vendor's house ironed out. But my buyers solicitor is apparently on holiday until Monday... Great.0
