Right to 'care' while delayed by French strikes

A friend has just messaged me: she was supposed to fly home to Spain yesterday but has to wait at Stansted until Saturday because of the French strikes. Her airline (Easyjet) is paying for a decent hotel and for breakfasts, but nothing else.
Am I right in my belief that she is entitled to all meals, and any other components of appropriate 'care'? If so, should she be arguing with EJ now or just saving receipts in order to claim later?
Also, am I right in thinking that there is no right to compensation (or any kind of cash) since the problem is not the airline's fault?

The right to care includes meals and refreshments in line with the length of delay.
No-one survives on just a breakfast over 24 hours.
But whether it's worth arguing over is another point.
Get receipts (no alcohol) and claim later IMO0 -
It includes the cost of 2 telephone calls too. From experience with Easyjet when I got stuck in Milan due to snow in 2010, they were spot on & reimbursed meal costs and transport.0

The airline doesn't have to pay it upfront, just re-imburse it to the passengers. Otherwise they would be dictating where & when you could eat which I'm sure would go down like a lead balloon.
