disgusted of tunbridge wells!!!

Options
hi

ive posted other threads here trying to get my phone and internet access sorted but am now have all the facts and would welcome some help.

i live in tunbridge wells - for those that dont know it, it is about 40 miles from london and a fairly large town..

unfortunately we are

1) unable to get a good tv signal on the free channels and so need boosters or cable - i use telewest cable
2) cant get freeview
3) cant get digital
3) cant get broadband - according to telewest
4) cant get unlimited dial up net access - again according to telewest

my options seem to be either stick with a reasonable tv package from telewest but pay loads for using the net

or change to a bt line and pay almost 20.00 a month just to get good reception on the terrestial channels plus a few of the 'less popular satellite stations - i mean how many people do you know that actually watch qvc? - but at least i will be able to fully use the net

to try and decrease my phone bill i have signed up for 1866 and 1899 but the problem of tv vs net access still rankles

has anybody got any ideas?

thanks

Believe that Sky are supposed to be launching a Freeview competitor - see http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/

...on which basis it might be worth looking at

    a) Get a BT line
    b) Port your Telewest number
    c) Use 18866 for outbound calls
    d) Select a decent ISP
    e) Get Freesat to have decent TV reception

    - ongoing costs shouldn't be too bad, but the "cost of change" might be a bit steep.
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...
  • Hi

I know exactly what you mean - I live here too and we had a nightmare trying to sort it out (we wee the unfortunate victims of Eurobell for a while). Anyway, we managed to get Telewest broadband and digitial in about May 05 as they finally rolled it out round here. To be honest the digital TV is a bit of a waste unless you pay loads to upgrade to the better packages as it is all repeats etc, but the broadband is good and now I spend far too much time fiddling around online! TV £4.50 pcm, Broadband £14.99 pcm.

And since you're in the area, do you know of any good cleaners? Can't find one for love nor money.

    Have fun!
