Best value for annual boiler service
Comments
-
Some companies advertise an Annual Boiler Check - this is not the same as a service.
A check just usually involves testing the flue emissions with a calibrated FGA (Flue Gas Analyser) and emptying and re-filling the condensate trap.
A full service would be as per the boiler manufacturer's recommendations and usually involves everything done in a check (above) plus dismantling the heat exchanger, inspecting and cleaning - the gasket should also be changed. Testing of the expansion vessel and pressurising if necessary. Ensuring the boiler is functioning correctly.
Some companies only do the items mentioned in the check above but still call this an annual service - so be warned!
There may be a clause in the guarantee that states you have to use manufacturer's approved contractors? If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!

This is a MONEYSAVING site.
I'm sure your advice is welcome , but what you should be doing, instead of exaggerating your price , is tipping other money savers off on ways to cut costs and tricks of the trade.
No doubt you gain from reading the other boards, like Savings and Groceries, so come on lads, play fair and square.
this may be a moneysaving site , but cheap doesn't =good , the first priority is to have someone who is competent and knows what they are doing and you trust , if their prices are reasonable then by all means go ahead and use them , if they are a bit more expensive then someone who hasn't got a clue what they are doing then that will be money well spent , do not use someone just because they are cheap ,0 -
And lots of workers don;t get paid for travelling or a business tax deduction for the petrol and part capital cost of the vehicle. You want it all.
& lots of workers get 4 wks paid holiday every year, sick days paid, a company pension scheme, an hours lunchtime, smoking breaks, do you really want me to go on ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
I paid £45 today. He was here about 45 minutes and declined my 2 offers of tea/coffee. Obviously gas safe and very clean and tidy worker. I would not pay £650

In that short amount of time, it would have probably have been a boiler check rather than a service:

I charge £60 + VAT for a standard service, more for a back boiler and fire front.
It is a 'service' and general gas safety check, with full documentation afterwards.
I allow 45 minutes on site and 15 minutes paper work at home to issue the certificates and invoicing.0 -

Although this may be a money saving site, one needs to get value for money rather than just the cheapest price that may not give the best results.0 -

shop around!!!
but as stated above cheaper is not always best when your talking of gas and gas safe registered.
the stuff a gas engineer has to pay for before they even get to your house is damned expensive and somehow that cost needs to be recouped, before they even make a profit
my OH only does commercial but his latest GS course cost him 2k add a van and all equipment and insurance for van and equipment and insurance for working in peoples homes and am sure your getting the idea now.
You don't just pay for engineers time, you pay for his experience and quals as well as histime63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0 -
I thought of having it done every other year.0
