Thanks for the reply i will see into applying.I get IB and every year after filling IB50 i always get called for a medical and last year passed to be reviewed in 12 months .

I wondered if there was anybody else getting IB for depression and in there experience have they always been called for a medical.I find the medicals very distressing.

I do have a welfare rights adviser filling in my form for me this year what are the chances of having a medical again ??
Also as i have said i may apply for DLA anyone who has been awarded DLA for depression did you have to have a medical for this also ?

My husband gets IB for depression and was not called for a medical last time he filled in an IB50. He does have a history of this condition going back to 1990 (although he has not claimed IB for that length of time). He too has found the medicals distressing in the past.

He is 58, I don't know whether this makes any difference.

He does not claim DLA (can't actually, as we live in Spain, although IB can be received in Spain).

    Hope this helps.

My OH was refused DLA on the basis that he is able to do things for himself and does not rely on a carer.
because of this he is now looking back to going to work even though he is not well enough to

Unfortunately depression seems to be the "in thing" at the moment with some of the how can I put this- "unsavoury" people in our society and before people start putting nasty comments both I and my partner do suffer with it!

People are likely to get called for a medical for IB, DLA they will take into account information on your form and also the report from your GP (on that I will say make sure you speak to your GP and let them know you have claimed)

My partner got awarded DLA second time around (I filled in the forms for her 1st time, as that is my job filling in forms for DWP) which is why I will always advise people to get help filling in the form from a welfare rights person!!!
