Hi! Any help with this is greatly appreciated! I had an account with Natwest back in 2009, it became overdrawn and I had thought it was paid off. When I received a letter about the overdraft from Natwest I went down a paid a cheque in and clarified that the situation had been resolved which I was told it was. The cheque was substantially more than the overdraft, and I then had a fight on my hands to withdraw the additional money, which resulted in me removing all the money and closing the account completely.
I have recently looked at my credit report and I have been advised that they have placed a Settled Default on file, even though I had never been made aware a Default would be issued! Even at the numerous bank visits after I had paid the cheque in! When I queried this with Experian, they submitted a request and admitted that the Default notices looks to have been placed too quickly on the file for them to have followed all their processes. I then used another thread here and submitted a letter asking for a copy of the Default notice, they advised it was Settled so it was all okay, I responded by advising that I had never been made aware that it was a Default or received a notice, to which they replied, they weren't able to provide a copy of the Default Notice or proof it was sent as it is an 'automated letter' produced when an account is passed to the Recovery Department. In each letter they have asked me to call rather than write. Is this an acceptable excuse with them saying they cannot prove it? Am I within my rights to ask if they cannot prove they sent it, they need to remove it, as I firmly believe nothing was ever sent.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
