I looked into it a few months ago but found that it was cheaper just to get standard size bottles from the supermarket. (Very disappointing.)0

my local food cooperative has big containers from which you can get refills of ecover products (extra environmentally friendly). you just take your empty washing up liquid bottle or whatever over and refill it.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

hi rach ....i have a organic /eco shop about 15 miles away.. where they sell ecover.. in bulk 10kg bags. and they also do a refil service saving 20p if you re-use your old bottles etc... its not as cheap as mr t.. but they are only one little shop.. and they dont want to rule the consumer world, oh ye and dictate what price they pay...etc...
i personally would rather pay a bit extra.... for some of my shopping knowing that its going to a local independant trader/shop.....
i know i got to watch the pennies too, but on the whole i find shopping in local shops.... my weekly shopping spend is down....
also if you order ecover/washing powder on line dont forget to factor in the actual cost of petrol to get to tescos in the price....and the wear and tare on the care... and also the carbon footprint thing...
i think it works out for an average size car roughly 46p per mile....as a guide line.....
sorry for the little rant about tescos....just hate what they are doing....Work to live= not live to work0 -
Hiya,
I have recently spotted a range of cleaning products at Tesco's called "Tesco naturally". It's displayed between the Ecover range and looks almost identical. The ingredients look very much the same and it's a lot cheaper.
Quick price comparison for laundry liquid (based on buying 1/5L tesco stuff):
1.5L Tesco GBP 3.49 <> Ecover 4.39 at Tesco.
For 5 L Tesco would be GBP11.63 (Ecover online approx 16-17)
For 25L - GBP58.71 (Ecover online apporx GBP70-75)
Even though bulk containers are not on the shelve, buying 1.5L all the time seems a lot cheaper than the Ecover bulk containers from online shops (disadvantage is use of more packaging material)
Does anyone know more about these products?
Obviously it's a private label, but could it just be Ecover producing it?
Is it just as good (environmentally and from a cleaning point of view)?
Any more info is welcome.
Many thanks!

I bought the Tesco dishwasher tabs as they were next to ecover and cheaper. I don't think they are quite as kind to the environment though - when I looked at the % ingredients, Tesco were better than govt minimums but not as good as ecover. I bought the Tesco ones because I was a bit broke and they were better than the standard ones, but I would like more info too, if anyone can help!0

I'm looking for bulk BIO Ecover washing powder. All the sites seem to stock the small boxes of 1.2k or tablets or 5/25k of NON-BIO powder. Suggestions? Have done searches on the 'Net to no avail so far.0

Do Ecover do this product in this size? I have not seen it if they do.0

so we're not much better off then
so do i go to the eco house (which is 15 miles away) for more expensive refills, or just buy online or go back to mr T? it's a hard one....
i tried bio D and it was, I'm afraid to say RUBBISH in comparison...i was very disappointed as i had high hopes.....

I've only seen the bio in the small boxes of 1.2kg. They do a 10kg bag of non-bio, but no other sizes in the Bio.
I've decided to contact them - watch this space.............!0 -
Well, you can't get much quicker than this for a response! Her'es what theyhad to say:
"
Thank you for your email; we very much appreciate your eagerness to use Ecover products. Whilst the idea of a 10kg bio washing powder was explored at the same time as developing the non-bio, it was decided that there actually isn’t sufficient total demand for the bio washing powder to put a 10kg version to market.
Therefore there are currently no plans to offer it in the future, though this of course depends on market demand.

Rob"0
