Cancelled my O2 account not received a request for a settlement....

Hi everyone,

I need some advice, I cancelled my Contract phone account with O2 in April, I was told to pay Aprils bill and then they would send me a bill for the line rental from May to August which equated to £65 approximately, they informed me that the bill would be received within 14 working days. They changed my account to a sim pay as you go to cancel the account quicker.
I cancelled my direct debit as instructed and awaited their bill.

I've still not received the bill request for the line rental, I tried to log into my account online (i had online billing) to see when the bill would come and it says that the account doesn't exist.
I don't know what to do, has anyone experienced this before?

    Bad advice, bad move.

Pick up a phone and call them and ask?

  • Why was it a bad move they said to do this and also that they would write to me with a final bill that I could call up and pay, I'm kind of hoping they've forgotten about me lol.

Because if they try to draw the funds and fail they will trash your credit rating

You need to contact them asap to sort it out instead of wasting time discussing it on forums ...you should have done that when the bill failed to arrive after the 14 days rather than ignore it.
It's not just about the money

Exactly as Silk says, a large majority of complaints on forums seems to be be around defaults obtained because users are too quick to cancel a DD before the final bill and then "kind of hope they will forget".

Are you really so naive as to think a multinational company is going to have billing systems that will just forget about you?

It's your responsibility to pay the final bill, especially now you have cancelled the DD, not O2's to run after chasing payment. At the least expect a red dot in your file, at worst a big old default possibly leading to a judgement if you ignore it.

They definitely won't have forgotten about you, and when you have a trashed credit rating that will affect your financial prospects for the next 6 years, you definitely won't be LOLing either.
Do the sensible thing. Pick the phone up, make the call and pay the bill.
