scary! I get to 2.2% as my current mortgage rate is 4.79% and the 1 I tried to move to was 2.59%. The credit check the bank made shows up on my credit report so I can prove when i tried to move it and my credit report was perfect other than the two wonga loans so they are the only reason we were refused.
Thanks for all the replies
I think you have a case. Wonga are reporting information against your name and have a responsibility to ensure it is accurate.
However, it seems strange that you did not get any demands through the mail.
What monetary value do you put on the claim?Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

You would have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that you would have received an offer of the lower rate mortgage without these errors on your accounts. Have your bank put it in writing that this is the reason you did not get the offer? Without that, you wouldn't have a leg to stand on, because you can't prove that you would have got the rate you applied for.
If the loans were defaulted, then I would be surprised you got a mortgage at all. If the loans were just listed against your name, and had been correctly repaid (albeit by someone else) then the effect might have been fairly slim. You would have to go back and get a formal statement from the bank stating that you would have qualified for a better rate had they not been on there at all. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
