Keep iphone & number on new contract?
Hi there,
This may be a dumb question.
I have an iphone 4. I'm on a rolling month by month contract with Orange that I'm not tied into, having been tied in for 18 months.
I want to get my bills down.
Can I keep my existing number?
Can I use my iphone?
Thank you!

You could always get a SIM only contract. I don't know what deals Orange do but that's what I did with O2.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

as above or get them to change the SIM to PAYGYou're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0

To use your iPhone on any other network you need to unlock it. Orange will charge you ~£20 and are notorious for dragging their feet for weeks if not months when doing this.
You can port your number to any other network.

Would that mean I keep the same phone number?
Would I have to get an iphone sim?
It's so confusing.
Thanks for replying.0 -
Yes and yes, firstly you need to have the network lock removed by Orange for your iPhone.Would that mean I keep the same phone number?

Thanks for replying.
You are then able to port your number to another network (if that is what you want to do). You would need to obtain a suitable SIM card for the new network which will have a different number to your current number, once you have the new SIM and tested that it works, ask Orange for a PAC code (porting authorisation code) which you then pass to your new provider who will arrange for the number to be transferred to the new SIM.0 -
Brilliant, thanks for the advice.
I'm switching. My current contract is costing me 42 a month. Ouch.0 -
See if these suit.
Should be stress free.

I upgraded to a sim only contract (staying with Orange) by just phoning them up and have just done the same again on Dolphin7 £7 per month.
Don't mention iPhone as all that seems to do is double the price!!!
maybe look at your previous bills and then choose the sim only deal to match0
