Your rent isn't quadrupling, it remains the same. You're just going to have to pay more of it out of your own pocket, unless you downsize.
Semantics! The amount I'm having to pay is quadrupling then, I feel so much better now :-) For a minute there, I thought I was going to be worse off financially every week ;-)Always interested in networking with small business owners with regard to marketing opportunities...0 -

What am I missing? £6.10 per week to £25!!!
Your rent isn't going up, the payment you have to make towards it is.You either pay it or find somewhere cheaper. I rent privately and have to put £40 a week towards my rent as HB doesn't cover itIts all mind over matter. I don't mind and you don't matter:rotfl:0 -
Was the £6.10 rent for the dwelling or water rates?"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Why were you paying rent at £6.10 when you are on job seekers?0

Have you looked to see if there are any mutual exchanges etc available for you ?
It does seem a bit unfair to change the amount you are supposed to pay and not inform you, not sure who you could complain too though.Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j0 -
there would be no point in complaining.
the onus is always on the claimant to be aware of their benefit entitlement0 -
I advise you to apply for a discretionary housing payment ASAP if your lucky they will, backdate to April but to be honest have you been living under a rock not to know about the welfare reform ? , it appears most councils are paying 6 months of dhp payments to bedroom tax households but this is a short term payment and then your own your own ie from April the reality is you have to move or get a lodger or depending on your circumstances find employment sharpish FYI why are you paying for plastering on a rented property ? Surely that's the landlords responsibility ?0
