From the OP's first post:
I don't know what to do I am tearing my hair out , someone please help me!
I just can't see what you expect anonymous MSE posters to do to help you.
I agree with the posters saying that holidays and what would happen to the puppy should have been discussed before making the decision to have a pet.
I also agree that this poor dog deserves a better home than it appears to have right now.0 -
I'm not going to comment on the rights/wrongs of the situation, but if your Dad is against kennelling what is his opinion on home boarding? The puppy would go and live with someone in their home for the duration of the holiday; there would be less risk of parvo than in kennels. It is more expensive than kennelling but could be worth looking into if you are unable to care for the dog.0

Thank you so so much for this response. It's the most helpful one I have seen here and I've spent the past hour crying at the responses on here. I never knew this existed and this might be a really good option, thank you.Save 12k in 2015 challenger NO.128 £0.00/£8000

It sounds like a rather sad situation for the poor dog - according to you it was got both to help your dad and because you wanted one, but your dad is already talking about getting rid of it in a few years and you seem unwilling to take any responsibility for it even for a very short period. If that is really how you both feel then I agree that the best thing would be to rehome it now - the younger it is then the easier it will generally be to find a new home for it where they will have hopefully thought through its needs before committing!
However, on the chance that you're simply panicking a bit because of your anxiety then try and think about what it is that's worrying you so much about looking after the puppy. You'll have to feed/look after yourself anyway and the puppy might provide a distraction from worrying about your parents again. Could you also look at 'back up plans' so you feel like you have a safety net in case you can't cope - so that could be having a friend on call to help out, checking for anyone local who takes dogs in for home boarding, even getting a dog walker/doggy dog care to take the pup for a few hours a day so you could relax and feel like you were having a breather. It is very doable but you have to be willing to put the effort in.0 -

Just because replies aren't what you want to hear doesn't mean they aren't necessarily helpful. It's rare to get so many posters agreeing on anything on here - maybe this many people thinking the puppy should be rehomed should give your family something to think about.
I know it sounds harsh and no one is meaning to upset you but what's important here is what's best for the dog - can you (as a family) honestly say that the best thing for him is to stay with you? Not a question you need to answer here, but something to think about hopefully.0 -

Megan you actually had quite a few helpful responses but chose the one more suited to getting out of looking after the dog you also wanted.

You said yourself that you wanted the dog, but aren't prepared to look after it.
Regardless of all that, what's done is done and it's time to look into the dog's best interests for the future.
I agree that it should be rehomed ASAP. Dogs need a lot of care and commitment, and it's only fair to give yours the chance to go to a new home while it's still young.
Surely you can understand that this is the best solution, based on what you've told us.
The advice on this thread has been very helpful and sensible.Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

What breed of puppy is it?0

I am heavily involved in the rescue dog world.
Yet again another young dog that will be put in the rescue system or passed around different families, because of iresponsible people and buying animals on a wim without considering the future.
Also the Parvo arguement is easily avoidable by the dog having full injections, which should have been done way before now.
Hope the dogs best interests are put first.Lauren :hello:

TBH even dogs having the full range of vaccinations can (and have) got parvo (speaking here from experience in the early 80's)0
