Get a £2 statutory off Experian every 6 months or use Noddle which is Free!.

I signed up to noodle and they are rubbish - got loads of someone else's accounts and defaults all over my report - I have disputed this information with them but not heard back yet

I then signed up for £2 equifax report, but they asked me to phone a number at the final step - which I did and spoke to someone who could barley speak English who asked me various questions regarding old and settled accounts - I got the questions correct but they still need me to send of two forms of ID - rubbish!

I then signed up for a free trial of checkmyfile and they show limited information from call credit and equifax only

Finally I signed up or experian free trial and they managed to get everything correct, as it shold be with a 999 score.

Do you have defaults or been discharged bankrupt or new to credit?

No my credit rating should be perfect. I have current account, credit card paid in full each month, vodaphone contract and no missed payments ever. Also on the electrol roll but this is not showing on my reports for some reason.

If your noddle file has you mistakenly listed as an alias of another person and another person's account on your files then I would definitely make sure you also check your equifax report as well. You could always just apply for the £2 postal report if you were having difficulties applying for the online one.

I'd also be chasing up on noddle about the issues on your noddle/callcredit file . You need all 3 of your files to only contain accurate information if you are planning to apply for credit from anywhere, as you won't know for certain which agency or agencies a lender will perform a serach on.

Personally I would never use checkmyfile or any other 3rd party agency. Just stick to the 3 proper agencies.

Thanks. It will probably be easier to simply request all 3 via the paper route, just to ensure I am looking at the full picture

And don't rest until Call Credit (Noddle) have corrected the issues - you might just see it as "Call Credit didn't get it right but Experian did" however, lenders WON'T see it like this -

They will take information they retrieve as gospel truth - so they will consider these third parties' accounts to be yours - and judge you accordingly.

As already stated you also need to check such issues don't exist on your Equifax file and don't stop at them until they're sorted.

    Good luck! :)

    Thanks!

I have just phoned Equifax and spoke to someone who spoke better English this time and got me ID satisfied - the report was fine apart from no current electoral roll information so have raised a dispute to get it looked at.

So the main mess is unique to call credit for linking a strangers defaulted accounts to mine - I don't like looking at all the red defaults and CCJ so hope they will amend quickly!

The fact that two agencies have had problems identifying you and the electoral roll not showing on your reports suggests significant problems that you'll need to get sorted out one way or another. Your credit score will be a long way from "perfect" in the eyes of lenders if they can't verify your address

That's what I thought. Strange thing though, last month I got accepted for a Nationwide Flex Direct current account and a Select Credit Card (both applied for on the same application)

I did have to take my passport into the local branch however as ID

Even my call credit report is showing someone else's name on the electoral roll but the correct address. The names are similar but defiantly not me.

I need to get this mess sorted as we will be applying for a mortgage next year.

You might get away with it, particularly on a mortgage application as they won't rely on your credit reports for ID and AML; they'll want passports etc.

But, as you've said, you need to get it sorted. If the other guy on CallCredit defaults on a loan, you've got issues.
