I think that perceptions of Aldi especially have changed over the last ten years. It's now becoming quite cool to save money, and Aldi are opening shiny new stores (eg Market St, Manchester) that don't seem so revolting as they once were.
When I was a kid, we used to make fun of people who would buy "stripy" (Tesco Value) stuff and "buy their clothes from Oxfam". Nowadays, buying clothes from charity shops and getting good value food is seen as consumer savvy not chavvy!:T

Please check the labels in Aldi, it seems to cost cut they have added hydrogenated oils to most of there products, even fresh bread contains it, if you dint know what it is its a fat thats linked to coronary heart disease

Most large corporations are now removing it, M+S, Tesco , Mr Kipling to name a few

you have to pick and choose what you buy in aldi and lidl i would not buy meat from there but i also would not buy it from tesco as for the waiting at the tills thats a joke but i never moan at staff as the working practices are bad so i do feel for their staff.

Having worked at Aldi (head office and a couple of stores) - I wouldn't touch most of what they sell, whether it be electricals or food, with a bargepole - having said that, they do use many of the suppliers that the major supermarkets use - although some products come from more distant shores!

The only thing I would buy is their beers or wines - these are sourced mainly from overseas and the quality is good.

Which head office would that be? One of the regional head offices (such as Chelmsford), or Atherstone? See, you've made a statement about Aldi without actually giving us any facts to back up your remarks. Either say what you've got to say, or say nothing at all. Did you fail Area Manager training, or what?
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

    Bull's eye.

AM reject on a revenge trip.

In Germany, everybody shops at Aldi. It's not a supermarket. It's a way of life.
There are several Aldi cookbooks out, and they're not authored by the company.

Not sure we should be looking to Germany for lifestyle tips!
