100% agree. If you know what you're looking for and what the price is that you'd normally pay it can be good. Recently I found grated mozarella at Aldi for 78p....and it was okay too. However, I couldn't do a whole shop there.

We went in Aldi on Sunday after hearing a lot about it on here and I was disappointed. I am sure ranges differ between shops but ours had lots of biscuits / cakes / crisps and nothing that we would normally eat.

Didn't think the fruit and veg were very good either, but that could be because it was a Sunday.

i use lidl for the bulk of my shopping, it really depends on what you are looking for as such more than anything, having lived in germany for over 3 years and shopping in lidl regulary over there alot of the items i find in my local one was foodstuff i was buying when living there (bread for example is different though), i have not really had a problem with there meat there is just not a big variety as you would get say in tesco's, there is some named items there but a huge amount is there own brands

the best time for fruit and veg to be bought is mornings and usually at the start of the week, and as said they have weekly specials of non food items

I think they are great but you maybe have to be selective!

We're definetly converts to Aldi & Lidl. Their fruit, veg, cooked meats, cheese, forzen deserts are all excellent vfm.

I wouldn't put any store in comments by masherano, he's been seen to make completely unhelpful comments in several forums & threads with the sole purpose of winding up people. Best not to feed the trolls.

DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THEM WITH A BARGEPOLE!

Having worked at Aldi (head office and a couple of stores) - I wouldn't touch most of what they sell, whether it be electricals or food, with a bargepole - having said that, they do use many of the suppliers that the major supermarkets use - although some products come from more distant shores!

The only thing I would buy is their beers or wines - these are sourced mainly from overseas and the quality is good.

I combine shopping at Aldi & Lidl with Morrisons and local market/shops, that way I get the stuff I like from each of them and keep it within my budget.

I think that you have to be selective on the day with most s/m at the moment very good veg at lidl and 1/2 price ,but I do go early and see it being put out and buy fresh. cant do a complete shop but because we eat such a lot of fruit & veg its a good saving for me .For my D/D packed lunch I make homemade bread lidle ham thin slices find them the same anywhere, and fruit and a buscuit(homemade)or slice lemon cake.Daughter says shes the envy of her mates. Also had girls round for tea ,and later in the evening They brought out lidl aldi sweets( they go to private school)so parents not too proud to shop Aldi Lidl.
