Most companies will agree to a reduction in a DD with valid reasons like your children leaving. - assuming you have a meter!

Depending when they left, they might want you to submit a couple of meter readings, say, 2 months apart to confirm reduced consumption.

If you are not on a meter, it won't make any difference to your bill - but you should get a meter.

They ought to. When I moved into my house (in the area supplied by Southern Water) I received a few old bills/statements for the previous tenant, which were all suggestive of around £30 per month. Now it's all sorted and regular for me, it's gone down to an average of £9.70 per month.

Best advice is to ring your water provider and ask. Apologies; I can't really be more helpful than this. :o

    Best wishes. x

Hi,Telephoned Thames Water this morning and explained the situation. They have agreed to reduce the monthly DD from £45 to £25 on a temporary basis until they have taken a meter reading in August. Then they say they can set a new monthly payment regarding reduced usage.

    Thanks everybody
