You can't miss the zoo de la Palmyre right next to Royan. Is my favourite zoo with great shows giraffes you can feed, birds that do tricks on bikes (really!) and a polar bear. A wonderful day for every one.0

I polar bear - in that heat - not sure i can stand to see that :eek:
any other recommendations? does anyone recommend anywhere no too expensive to eat or is it all very expensive?

it's all relative, v difficult to say without knowing what you call expensive. I've always found eating in France good value, but it's important to us and one of the reasons we go to France, especially the west coast regions. When keeping costs down we'd go for Plat du Jour and plenty of bread and house wine, avoid the extras. Then again when the children were young we invariably self-catered and eating out was more of a treat.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
